Hey everyone,
I have really been eyeballing a Remington 870 Police (20" bead sight IC bbl) with the walnut stock for a while now. I'll probably use it for a bit of everything and nothing in particular. Im looking to make it more useable for different activities through the ability to swap out chokes. I am looking for a jack of all trades and master of none sort of thing.
I would take it hunting for small game (although I prefer my .22 over a shotgun for that) and shoot some clays with it and take to the range for fun. I'd attempt to take it duck hunting as well but I prefer going for grouse and hare. I never felt the need for a 28" vent rib for shooting grouse and hare 20-30 yards away.
Just a note: If I were to get more into skeet shooting and duck hunting I would happily get a dedicated shotgun for those activities.
So my question is:
Would threading this shotgun for chokes make a reasonable do-all shotgun? Again it doesn't need to be the best at anything (and it won't be), but I'd like to be able to take it for any activity because "it'll work". I realize there are cheaper and better ways to accomplish this, but the 870P in particular really apparels to me. I'd love to hear some constructive opinions on this, thanks everyone.
