Semi Auto PPSH-41 in canada?

The Suomi was hands down the worst gun I have ever bought. The guys who did the reproduction were hacks in every sense of the word. Couldn't pay me to own one of those guns again.

I've read that the Suomi and the PPSH replica share the same reputation in quality... 5rd mags kill it for me when you can buy a pistol caliber carbine that takes 10rd Glock mags every day of the week.

i hear you, but id mainly be finishing up my russian/polish collection if im able to get my hands on even a replica (still looks like the original thing lol). It would look great beside my mosins and such :p

I was trying to find a tnw ppsh 41 down in the states and get I run guns to bring it up for me but like was stated they are impossible to find. I even called tnw and talked to Lance for awhile and he is going to try to find me one. He said that they quit making them a few years ago but he also told me that after this year when they are done the mg34 production run they are planning to do the mg42 next! I sure hope they do and make it so we can have them up here!
I have their Suomi and I cant say its a horrible gun, its heavy as heck but it shoots good and is quite accurate for what it is. The 5 round limit does suck especially when the mags hold thirty some rounds otherwise. The only thing that I don't like about it is that the barrel sticks out way past the shroud making it look a little silly. Its fun to shoot though and I don't regret buying it

Holy crap... an mg42?? sign me up! that would start my german collection haha. if you ever find one or two let me know! maybe well be able to split the import fees ;)

We just need to find someone that can make a Non- Prohib receiver (restricted or non-rest.), and some form of bolt, and trigger design. then start slapping original PPSH parts on it lol

For those curious about how the non-prohibited ppsh look - here's a link to one that sold recently on gunbroker. It does appear that this one would be restricted if it were to be imported into Canada.

www dot gunbroker dot com/Item/650529864 (I'm sure you can figure it out)

I think the extended shroud is ridiculous, but to each their own....

I'd be tempted, but I learned my lesson when I bought a 1927A1 Thompson. It had the non-restricted Canadian-length barrel, but it still looked enough like a Thompson to get prohibited by name. Even the .22 rimfire version made the prohibited list.

It's a pretty sure bet that anything that looks even vaguely like a machine gun will be prohibited as soon as the appropriate person notices it. Buying one of these is just buying an expensive present for Mr Trou d'eau.

Prohib by oic or by name, just looks alone give the shiver. pure evil. no hope in hell. oh dewat paperweight is your only option.
Stupidity at its finest.
hope this helps.

Nope. Not prohib by OIC, only prohib by virtue of originals being converted autos. A new-made reproduction in semi-only is not a named prohib.

Bottom line is that the reason you don't see them is likely that no dealer has access to them in sufficient qty or profit margin to get one approved by the RCMP lab and/or to import a bunch.

That not how any of this works...

TNW doesn't make them anymore. The TNW has been cleared by the lab already as Restricted. If someone wanted to get it rebarrelled it would be NR.

Used market is the old way. And since none were mass imported when they were produced, that means GB or the like.
