What's best for pistol cleaning & lube products

Ballistol might work okay, but I think that faith placed in a single do-all product is akin to buying snake oil.

That's exactly why Ballistol was formulated in 1904 by Dr. Helmut Klever to be a sort of "snake oil" for the German Imperial Army. To be able to clean, lubricate and rust proof the Army's weaponry from corrosive deposits (at that time all ammunition was corrosive and used nasty mercuric fulminates in primers). At the same time it preserved wood and leather. Sometimes Ballistol was even used for healing small wounds.
Ballistol has been working splendidly through two World Wars and is still working very well now without any problem whatsoever.
I've been using Ballistol for over 15 years and all my pistols and rifles are in an impeccable condition, including the SKS's and Mosins which I shoot with solely corrosive ammo.
Yes, Ballistol is great "snake oil"!

CLP has worked prefect for me and I see no reason to change.

Ballistol is fantastic for corrosive ammo and black powder.

BAllistol here too.
I have been using it to clean, lubricate and protect for years and all my rifles and handguns are in extremely good condition. It is also very good on wood stocks...

I use CLP after I hard that American soldiers in the sand box swore by it.

The best description I've heard for the odor of Ballistol is that it smells like the puck in a urinal at a truck stop. But it works.

+1. Where are people buying it?

I currently use Hoppe's #9 for most of the cleaning and synthetic grease/synthetic motor oil for lube.

I buy Ballistol from Canada Ammo in US gallons (3.78L). It costs $100/gallon. Usually I buy 2-3 gallons so then shipping is free. If Canada Ammo is dried up (what sometimes happens) then I resort to Ballistol Canada. Their gallon price is a bit higher at $120 but still O.K. Buying by gallons is much cheaper than buying individual spraying cans. Usually, a gallon lasts for nearly 2 years for me.

You can now order Ballistol from Amazon.ca
It is environment and human friendly/ non-toxic.
To get rid of the smell, I just open he window of my gun cleaning room for a few minutes, even in winter. It also serves as an excuse to get fresh air in the house.

Smell!? What smell? This is a nice aroma of licorice arising from anise oil that is a principal component of Ballistol! As a kid didn't you like licorice? Perhaps you're a younger generation that never tasted licorice. Too bad.

Reliable Gun in Vancouver is a stocking dealer of Ballistol. Also Rusty Wood Trading Co. in Mission, BC. Both mail order.

For curiosity, I just checked both vendors websites and none of them has 1 gallon cans in stock which is the cheapest way of buying Ballistol. So far, only Can Ammo and Ballistol Canada offer 1 gallon cans.
