Hi gangs,

Im looking for buy my first log range rifle and im realy undecided on to rifle.
my first choise is the savage 10 fcp-hs,my second choice is the ruger precision, but i cant looking any information on this rifle, i realy like look any post about the quality and precision on this ruger.

thx everybody for your help

That's a tough one. I have owned both of those, and neither one was a slouch. The Savage would still group a little better than the Ruger, but the Ruger is way more adjustable to fit your shooting style. If I were to do it again with these two choices, I still think I would pick the RPR over the Savage mainly for the sake of being able to upgrade some parts in the future if you decide. Either is a good choice, but I would try and get behind both before handing over your $$$ to see what feels best to you.

Thx everybody! I want to buy ma gun brand new! But for the ruger i cant look a website he have this gun! Can tou help me?? I dont have the great place for buy on internet :D

I have the fcp hs. Bought this fall. The hs stock is excellent. Very stiff and top quality. I personally love the large palm swell.

The magazines fed fine, but I wanted aics mags and available 10 rounders so I installed a PTG. still working out the kinks.

The feedramp has terrible chattermarks that need some serious polishing. Also the bolt smoothness is terrible for someone who grew up with silky smooth 700s. Still trying to figure out what I can do about that. It is accurate as all hell with min spec saami headspacing. love those barrel changes. Also the floating bolt head makes cheap and accurate possible.

In the end my next rifle will probably be a 700 or clone with a remage conversion because the bolt body is just sticky and prone to binding.

Keep in mind as this is about 70 rounds into it.

The popularity of the RPR and huge aftermarket support is a testament to this budget LR rig. I was shocked with how well my 6.5 shot with factory ammo...will only get better with handloads ( patiently waiting for my Redding dies). The mag system is genius and it just looks bad ass.

Cheers!!

Im not sure for take a 6.5, because is my first long range rifle and i cant make my reaload! Im lookinc for a .308

I'm no long distance shooting expert, but it seems to me that you should be able to learn a lot shooting a RPR in .308 as your first rifle (might be a good way to save money too as you won't need any or many upgrades...).

Then when ready to start reloading, sell it w/o losing much and buy another in the calibre of choice (6.5CM?) and if you stick with another RPR perhaps some upgraded parts could move over to the new rifle, saving even more $.

Cheers D

The 6.5cm look amazing whit a great ballistic! But im not sure for look this bullet at any shop! But thx gangs for your comments

A few places have ammo onine, mostly Hornady. You can find Berger and Hornady bullets at quite a few stores now. You say you don't reload but starting will not be all that expensive. It's just another time consuming hobby you will have!

I personally wouldn't be too set on getting a brand new rifle. If you get a lightly used RPR you won't be missing anything and could save quite a bit of money for ammo, optics, and other accessories.

Now that I say that those are very reasonably priced. They aren't in stock so I guess that might not be the actual pricing.

Bit of a thread hijack but which Redding dies did you get? I find the ones I have will dent the cases with any excess lube so I have stopped shaking them up in a box and have started using my finger to wipe lube on.

Im waiting on the deluxe die set from Brownells. I use Imperial die wax on all my resizing, works great.

Cheers!!
