ACR diet plan.

Could you just re-profile your existing barrel? I was going to do that to my MH but then I found a proof barrel on the EE and now my ol' lady is mad at me!

Haha I was going to reprofile my modern hunter barrel but ended up buying a proof barreled modern hunter off the EE. My wife was also not happy. Lol

Just a heads up if your looking for a proof research barrel tier one armory in edmonton can get them in for a really good price. I think they have a 223 barrel on their shelf right now.

Wont work with the ACR :-(

Might have to go that route since the SS barrel is the same weight as my Green Mountain. I was hoping they would be more of a difference.

herron arms can build you a skinny profile with built in flash hider
that will cut both on weight and on total length
once my dlask barrel is shot out that is what I am going to do

I've seen those barrels with the built in flash hider. I thought the flash hider couldn't account for any length of barrel regardless of how it is attached ?

You are correct in that if it's attached it cannot account for any barrel length. Herron mills the barrel to include the flashider so it's all one piece and counts as barrel length.

Funny that even if it's welded it doesn't count but if it's milled it dies...if someone does a good enough job welding one you would be hard pressed to tell the difference ☺

Just sent off my barrel to get fluted and ordered a scalarworks mount for my T2.I hope this will bring me under my 8lbs goal.

And im also thinking of lightning the bolt carrier if my target weight isnt reached.

A pictures worth a thousand words.

Left is restricted with flash attached; right Herron has cut the flash into the barrel (non restricted). The Herron was very accurate.

They can build you a skinny barrel but it heats up fast and accuracy drops after first few (3-5) shots if memory serves me correctly. If you are looking for only a few rounds per trip great but more than that tough it out inho.
