Almost have realized my dream of mounting a 20" pencil barrel with 1:9 twist on my M16A1 clone.

Does anyone know for a source local or even who would ship to Canada from US for a 0.625" FSB and a triangular hand guard cap (0.625" as well obviously)?

Have been hitting the EE daily for a while now.

So I guess removing the FSB didn't go well?

Brownells has A1 FSB for $20. They should have the handguard cap as well.

As for taper pin holes, those are only drilled when they are installed on the barrel. You want to avoid ones that are pre drilled as there is a snow balls chance in hell that they'll line up with the holes in your barrel.

That's the one.
But it looks like there is no taper pin holes drilled into the thing.
Is it just bad photo play or what?

"Holes must be drilled for setscrews or taper pins for precise fit to your gun"

"Does not include taper pins"

I also had to cut off my fsb from my da 556. No one in Canada has the triangular handguard cap. I have one but it's for a .750 barrel.

Numrich won't export the handguard caps, brownelles does not have them in stock.

Not so good lol
I had it supported 100% properly inside vice resting on bayo lug and upper side of FSB, had the wife holding the other end of the barrel and even clamped the muzzle to the vice for extra support.
Hit the heads of the pins with a 5/16 heavy duty punch and a full size ball peen hammer for almost 5 minutes.
Didn't even budge. Couldn't get the tips of the pin to knock down even a hair. Then heated up the FSB around the pins slightly with a torch and hit them with kroil. Again 5 minutes of heavy pounding and nothing. I've been smashing on them so hard, I'm making a mess of it.
The pins are high quality steel, they don't warp or flatten so hats off to the chinese for that. Those ####ers are in there...
I spoke to Dale at Tier one in Edmonton. He said he can get it off but it will probably destroy the FSB on there. Then I'm in the position of finding a 0.625" block. I may have to go with this one as there is zero chance the taper pin holes will line up with the taper holes in my barrel.
I'm sure they can drill the new holes to match my barrel pin holes.
The Norc taper pins appear to be exact match to my Diemaco spares I have in my parts bin. So the taper cutouts in the barrel under the block should mate up spot on.

Yeah I have 2 of the triangle caps as well but they are 0.750"
I have a friend with family in the US that is going to track one down for like $3 US and mail it up.
#### I hate this country and our sad depressed little market....

Take it to Tier One and have Greg look at it. He's a retire weapons tech.

Same thing here, those pins are near impossible to remove. During the process, I destroyed the taper pins and I made some ugly marks on the front sight base of my new DA556 rifle.

I bought two new taper pins and I also refinished(sanding+parkerizing) my front sight base. A lot of work only for replacing a handguard cap...

I also had a lot of trouble to find m16a1 parts. Even Numrich refused to ship the parts. And I tried a lot of other places.
