Looks great Paul,

Your rifle has a nice balanced look to it. Have you worked up some loads yet or settled on a factory loading?.

I'm finally finished setting mine up, and she's ready for spring bear. It's an honest shooter with the factory TBBC ammo (decent enough for hunting). Zero'd at 175y it shoots 1.5" high @ 100y & 1.5" low @ 200y

10 shots @ 200y

Happy Hunting!

Hey Gord! What ring do you have on your rifle?

I'm running Leupold PRW's (Medium height). Mounts are the steel Burris Xtreme Tactical's.

They make for a solid "permanent" mount system, but allow an easy removal if iron sights are required.

IMHO, the .444 and the .35 Whelen, a close cousin of the 9.3X62, serve different purposes. The correct rifle for you, is the one that is the most useful to your reality, the most user friendly, the one that captures your imagination, and the one you prefer to spend time with in the field. Define what it is the rifle needs to do, then realistically access which rifle comes nearest that ideal, then go from there.

Good assessment. :) You're right on the money.

Well changed scope mounts to Talleys low's, I like the way they look on the rifle!, and changing scope to Leopold VX3-2.5X8X38 ( scope should be here tomorrow ).

I Really like the balance of this rifle! I don't know what it is? But it's working! Must just fit me? I hope changing the scope, doesn't change thing's to much?

Beautiful gun!

And if it just feels right, that's because it is! Don't worry about the scope affecting that, with the right ring height for you, it will only add to the right feel!

Cheers

i have a 2.5-8 on mine and the balance is fine.

After the load dev. is finished, I may take that scope off and replace it with a Leupold 4x33mm. Will save a bit of weight and have an even smaller scope atop it.
