I think you will look for a long time.Scouts are only offered in 22lr with a 16" barrel and iron sights. With a barrel swap in 17hmr you could get an american barrel @ 20.5" but no iron sights.Gopher shooting with a scope is no brainer.

The American barrel is 20.5" and the Scout is 16.5". Is it worth shortening?
How about getting a gunsmith to shorten a 17 hmr American barrel set and fitting it into the 455 Scout's action? I am tempted to do it with the 17 and with the wmr.
Have you ever hunted some thick bush with the 452 Scout?
If you're in thick bush, why would you be using a .17 HMR?
Does anyone make a 17hmr with a 16" barrel. That would be my first search,if they don't there may be a reason? Sounds like it could be a cool option.
As a side thought the scout only has a 12" length of pull I had to use a1" butt plate from a Tikka to fix that on my 452 Scout.

That's a good question. But if a 16" or 16.5" .17HMR barrel floats someone's boat, who am I to argue. Saw off 4 inches, recrown, and hope for good accuracy. I was simply suggesting that the American barrel is not a long one to begin with.
You can shorten a cz.455 22lr barrel to 16.5 as they are sold that way.
Very nice Ronnie.
I am also thinking about doing the 1/2 in challenge with my carbon fibre Scout sometime soon. If you are interested, just shoot me a message when ready and we can give it a try together.
