Wolverine Supply has announced that Accuracy International is doing a limited run of the AW in 7.62 again. Tomorrow is the cut-off for securing the production of one. I have always been intrigued by this rifle but always found them to be on the pricey side.....although the accessories are not as expensive as the Sako TRG's. I'm still undecided....that UN stamp certainly does not help the situation though. I may need some help convincing me.....any AW owners out there???? If I don't get to ordering one I may be looking in the used market. Any thoughts on what a lightly used AW in green would run me around?
Your comments are appreciated!!!

Here is a review I did after 3 years of owning one.

It will give you an overview of the various options and features of the AW.

Keep in mind you will not get the old style stocksides on a new one but they can be acquired with a bit of searching around.

The price of a used AW will depend on the options it has and condition. 4500-5500.

I've had 3 of them, they are Ok.Lightly used full kit with, scope, steel case and accessories, I would think would run north of 8K now.
Sold a full kit last year for 7500.00

funny you buy No 4 Mk 1(t), L42, DCRA and all that other good stuff. Then you have to have an AW and it consistently puts bullets in 1 hole at 100 metres. Just so easy to shoot accurately...

Can't go wrong with operation and accuracy of any AI. They make many custom guns look like entry level shooters.

The AW has a very classic and iconic look. Not appealing to everybody, but people know an AIAE/AW and even AT simply due to it's appearance.

Guess it depends on the price of the proposed limited run, and how much you want the AW chassis.

Why not save a tad more and get an AIAT? Almost identical ergonomics with the thumbhole kit, and newer tech with the switch barrel system. Same permanently bonded chassis system, the works.

After I got my AW, I randomly load some bullets and asked a experienced shooter, this nice gentleman is also in this forum, to give it a test. Distance is 100 meters.

Following target paper is from my load development. I was trying to find a good seating depth. Distance is 100 meters.

I stop shooting it after its load development, because I was cheap on reloading components, the bullets is bulk bullets, 155 smk from cabelas, I can see there're scratches on them, like from swagging process. The lapua brass is mix-batches and fired 10+ times from previous owner. More important thing is, I'm by no means a good shooter, only have three years experience and I don't do breath control/follow through .etc. I know these skills are helpful, just feel depress when I try. Also the thumbhole stock always fight on me. I'm more like a McMillan guy.

It can be difficult for some that are used to a different platform (traditional stock) it just takes practice.

You must let the thumb hole stock dictate position and do what it wants. It was designed to force you into a repeatable position. If lop is the issue spacers can be added until it is correct. Every new shooter I put behind my AW nails it after a few minutes of instruction.

Okay, I'll give it a try, hope it works for me. thank you for the info:)

LOP should be good. I followed the instrcution from Randy Boyd.

Roddy go to Forum.....scroll down till you get to all the dealers....go to Wolverine Supplies, click on that and you will find a thread regarding Accuracy International Legacy AW Limited Run.....you will find the info and pricing there. Go ahead buy a few!!!!

If I were to order one, I would include for the adjustable LOP, and riser.

Especially the quick adjust one. This option is not possible after the fact. Spacers just aren't nearly as finished/handy.

Achilles heels for the original AW is the 1:12 twists barrel... fine for 168gr but if you want to go heavier you're sol.

OMG! I wish someone had told me sooner. My AI AX (with 1:12) has been shooting 178grs very well (~.5MOA).

I will need to talk to him when I get home and tell him that this is not allowed.
