What hunting gear have you bought that was a total waste of funds?

Don't bring them here when we chase bears! :d They'll go about 20 days, mine have 25 days on them and the soles are detached and rubbed smooth. On the west coast when we think wading boots we think hiking boots designed to run wet. They were the only boots in my size and figured how bad could they be... :p

Healy Hansens, muck boot and duck tape works good hunting just don't piss around in the creek to long
I use them all the time on the westcoast

SOG machete . It was absolute junk. The blade started to bend within minutes of cutting down small brush for a shooting lane.
low end weaver scope

The kit I have grown to love includes :
havalon knives
neo overboots
thermacell mosquito device
snugpac jacket
outdoor research hats...by far the best hats I have ever owned
Stanley brand coolers. Lifetime warranty 1/4 the price of a rotomolded cooler , 1/2 the weight and very well insulated and built.

6 inch bipod for dense forest and blind hunting. Much happier using a tripod in the blind and using trees/my pack.

I'm a M1907 sling man myself. I'll wrap the sling around my arm to steady the rifle for shooting....

Got an eBay 'tacticool' backpack as a gift, been trying to use it for hunting but it's a great combination or uncomfortable and impractical. Just bought a 40L generic hiking pack at a garage sale for $5 and spray bombed it ghetto cam. It's actually properly designed to carry weight on a person larger than 5'1", and doesn't have 38 zippers so I no longer sound like Santa's sleight trying to be quiet. Already better.
