So at the local gun show today, I walked by the MNRF table where there were 4 COs talking to the public. Being who I am, I looked to their holsters to see their sidearms and was a little perplexed by what I saw.
They were carrying USPs. This was more than a little odd to me since COs had informed me a few years back that they were switching to the P2000. However, at the last couple of shows, the COs present were carrying P30s. So...again this time, I stopped and asked what their sidearms were. Yes indeed; they were carrying USPs. However, as a couple of them told me, they were also issued P30s. And P2000s. And P2000SK pistols. In fact, it seems they are issued multiple pistols, as one officer said that he had a USP as well as a P30. All of these guns are .40s.
However, they also said that next year, they will be going with a SIG in 9mm; the same one that will be used by the OPP. However, nobody "knows" what that pistol will be...
