Remington Thunderbolt -- Observations and comments

Remington Thunderbolt shoots well out of my
JW25A - everything shoots well out of that thing,
10/22 - takedown shoots this well no jams yet (about 100 rds)
GSG 1911 - cycles this ammo perfectly and I hit paper

I bought 2 cases back when LeBaron's had them on for $14.99 a brick. I can understand why some people who miss deals like this will badmouth them.
The same kind of people that have a hate on for Norinco 1911s, 'cause the have been outshot be one with their high end .45s.;)

Do search for "remington thunderbolts"... you should see a pattern emerge... they are garbage... often referred to as "thunderturds" or "thundercrap"... I have run through several bricks in various guns at various times... and thankfully I finally ran out of them... they couldn't give them to me free... my shooting time is more valuable than to waste it with garbage ammo.

Hahaha they are filthy and seem to cause leading

I bought one of those boxes of 500 too. I never had any fail and they fed really well in my GSG 922 BUT wow were they dirty. I shot about 300 of them in one sitting and stripped the gun for cleaning. There were particulates of some sort inside the action. I don't know if that's un-combusted powder or what.

Yes, and in the barrel too.

I found them very dirty, many loose bullets, some are a lot quieter when fired , and quite a few fail to fire. I bought a few bricks a couple years ago for $19.99 I was worried that some might not make it out of the barrel, but was lucky that way.

I think much depends on many different factors when it comes to choosing .22 ammo. As many have said before me your gun will choose the ammo. But I think what games you are playing will make a difference in the ammo you are needing. Probably 75% of my rimfire shooting is done on a 50 foot indoor range , offhand with a single shot rifle or an auto loading hand gun. I only shoot the cheapest ammo that will function the auto. At the moment it is some old super-X in the auto and Federal bulk in the rifle . At 50 feet quit ones are not an issue.
If I am getting out to the gopher patch or a small bore silhouette match I switch to something sub sonic that shoots a bit better at the extended range often at over 100 meters . Gopher shooting for me is usually from a pretty solid rest so good ammo helps. Some of my friends idea of gopher shooting is walking into the gopher patch with a open sighted cooey all offhand shots and 15 yard is considered a long shot. Remington's out of the bucket work just fine. Many of these folks have probably never fired at a paper bull's-eye.
I have a couple of cases of that $20.00 plus a box ammo from eley ,RWS and Lapua that I rarely shoot , simply because my ability does warrant that kind of ammo for the shooting games I play. To a large degree the more you pay for ammo the better it will shoot. But if you have a one foot hold , one inch ammo will not help very much. So I have a hard time calling any ammo garbage if it used in it's proper application. It seems to me there is quite a lot of ammo snobbery going around.
