Deal on 115gr 9mm plated projectiles

It's tempting, but after the xmetal fiasco, is it really worth it to save a few bucks? I already have almost 1000 bullets that are barely usable.

Considering CanAm's reputation I really wouldnt hesitate to buy if i were interested.

I don't know how to say this, but I don't think their reputation is what you think it is. I've had great service and great deals with CanAm, and i've had horrifically crappy purchases (specifically shotguns) and various issues with customer service. I think they're on their 4th iteration of general manager for what I can remember.
That being said, I still buy stuff from them - but it's wise to question no-name products that are one off until someone has loaded, tested and reports back tbh.

MG4A6 said what I was going to mention.

You and me both. I love saving $$ like every other reloader but 3000pcs of potentially unknown pills not to mention 115gr? I've learned my lesson after my XMetal issues while trying to save a buck. :p

Man, I didn't even save on my xmetal. They were the same price as campros. They just happened to be there at the LGS, so I thought "why not try em?". Now I know why not...

So fill me in as to why Xmetal bullets, which look like cast with some sort of coating, has anything to do with the plated bullets that Canada ammo has.

Or is it all unsubstantiated and prejudicial opinion that if it doesn't say CamPro or ?? It must be rubbish.

Could be a couple of us already got burned buying X-Metal pills and don't want to risk buying a 3000pcs of unknown pills just in case we run into the same problem.

With the X-Metal pills, they've got way too much variance with them with regards to weight. I weighed my 1000pc box of 125gr pills and there was a bunch that weighed 122gr, 123gr, the majority in the 124gr and a bunch at 125gr. Seating them was also a pain in the arse. The profile is a bit on the blunt side so they need to be seated deeper. With Campros, I can seat to 1.11", with the X-Metal, I have to seat to 1.07" for my CZ and 1.06" for my Lone Wolf barrel. But that's not the issue. It could be the polymer coating that's uneven on the bullets because you can setup your dies to seat to 1.07" and crank out a batch and they will be anywhere from 1.067" to 1.08". I've had to do the plunk test or use a caliper on almost every single round to ensure they'll fit safely in my Lone Wolf barrel. The over length ones get set aside to be run through the readjusted seating die.

Budget shooters supply has 115 gr plated for 90 per 1000, $239.00 for unknown 3000 is no great deal, that's a $59.00 ammo can.
I use a turret press, 12 minutes per 50, so 4 hours per 1000. 9mm I don't make my working wage, but when I get into 45 or 357, I make more loading then working. Wonder if I could get that by wife, " but honey, if I quit my job and reload, I'm making more "

How do you figure its not a great deal? they are $94 per 1000 at budget, so $282 per 3000, and probably another $20 for shipping, that puts your at $302 before taxes.
Canam "unknown" 115 for $240 with free shipping before taxes.
Savings of $62 and a Free ammo can
If you take the savings it would add up to 659 extra bullets based on budget supply pricing.

Seems like a pretty good deal to me

By all means, buy them all.

For some of us who have been burned by bad projectiles before, saving about 20$ per 1000 isn't exactly worth taking the chance. Usually, you get what you pay for, and campro's quality is as low as I'll go personnaly.

I mean, it's a deal, it's 20% off, but it's not a GREAT deal. Maybe I'd buy 1000 of them for 80$, just for the sake of trying them, but until someone here comes up and say they're as good as campros (which, again, aren't exactly known for anything other than their low price), I'll pass.

That just leaves more for you man.

^^ don't forget how cool the ammo can looks too ;) haha, my buddy bought a can, I'll see what they look like when they come, personally going to hold out for 124gr
