P226 LDC or CZ Shadow 2

I think that if you are buying looks, buy whatever you want. If you are buying something that has an edge on competition....
The answer is very easy.

Indeed - what kind of optic is that and how is it mounted?

In a lot of ways the Shadow 1 seems like a bargain compared to the other guns on my shortlist

Especially since you can find them on sale for $799.99 if you don't mind waiting. A shop in Vancouver had them on 3 times now in their last sales for that price and they're probably having another sale pretty soon as they usually do a summer sale. Can't tell you who they are as they're not a sight sponsor but they're in Vancouver and its not Lever Arms.

Some pics of both from my gun store tour..personally i would go with the CZ

Thanks to Jo-Brooks, I will be taking my Shadow 2 to the range Sunday along with my LDC, X-Five Allround and my wife's Shadow SP-01 just to compare these DA/SA pistols head to head. Sure wish they would start shipping my 229 Legion pre-order though.

Damn you're probably right about that one. Maybe even a 227 legion. Well on the bright side I can space out my purchases I guess.

I should have said we will see the P229 Legion when demand slows down in the US. The P220 Legion is reportedly in production now. I have not seen anything official from SIG as far as a P227 Legion.

Ok,

My Shadow 2 arrived this PM, so I can get this thread back on topic. I also have an LDC and an X5 Alround.

Objectively speaking:

Weight:

Shadow 2 - 1290 g
LDC - 1206 g
X5 - 1261 g

Sight Radius:

Shadow 2 - 168 mm
LDC - 150 mm
X5 - 180 mm

SA Trigger Pull
Shadow 2 - 3.25 LBS
LDC - 3.75 LBS
X5 - 4.75 LBS

DA Trigger Pull
All three beyond my RCBS gauge's 8LB range.

Now, for the more subjective observations:

The CZ has nice fit and finish (not flawless), the two Sigs are flawless.
The CZ has nice double action feeling maybe smoother than the LDC
In single action, both Sig triggers break more consistently, (like glass). The CZ is a bit creepy in comparison.

The one issue that stands out at the moment, is the angled sides on the CZ slide,(not the best for racking the gun, but it seems usable).
The blue grips are gone, replaced by thinner, less ### black ones. To each their own.

I won't have a complete picture until I get them out to the range to see how the Shadow 2 works for me.

Thanks for posting the stats. I was going to do that as well. You also forgot to mention that the LDC trigger is adjustable and that the X-Five has a 5" barrel.

I handled the Sig and it the grip felt a wee bit big for my hands, and the CZ Shadow 1 felt natural. Love the Shadow 1, it's accurate and great to shoot...I put in a 13 pound recoil spring, comp hammer, 13 pound hammer spring and lighter firing pin spring, and stainless guide rod and buffer...the last mod is the pre-B trigger mod to reduce pre-travel. I just bought the Shadow 2, and all I've done is change the recoil spring to a 13 pounder...and the trigger and pre-travel and reset feel awesome right out of the box! The grip is higher and the fibre optic sight is smaller, so I think I'll be able to shoot it even better with a bit of practice. Brilliant guns, and I'd recommend them to anyone...the Shadow 2, in particular, is great right out of the box with the recoil spring change.

The 226LDC is the only Sig I would tolerate. The CZ is better for anything except if you're an actual soldier in an actual combat zone (and then the LDC would not be the first choice either), and it's less expensive. I would definitely get a CZ, the choice of S1 or S2 boils down to budget imho. I think you get more bang for your buck with a S1, but the S2 is a better gun out of the box.

if you are buying looks, buy whatever looks good for you.

Both guns are good looking in my opinion.

I am not a Sig fan, however, I do like the p226. I think it is a cool looking gun.

I tried the trigger of one last Wednesday (last time I owned one was 4 years ago) and I was quickly reminded how awful the trigger was. Prehistoric.

I have no tried the long dust cover version but I am assuming it perhaps has a better trigger? At any rate, the SRT is far behind any other current gun in the market.

There is another thread talking about the 320 (although the thread was polymer striker fired related) so do not want to start a pissing match here or there, however, long story short, I do not like the 320 or the Sig platforms (other than the looks of the 226) and I would not shoot one.

cheers

Please elaborate

Sigs for looks, CZ for performance?

I`ll be curious to hear which you prefer and why

I`m still mulling this over and change my mind daily

I`d like a DA/SA gun and have narrowed it down to this pair, I am considering adding a SAO Legion as well to scratch that itch
