Someone posted this video on a us military FB page. Few comments summed up "don't go bow hunting without a sidearm". I wonder if I could use this video to apply to carry in the woods since there are black bears everywhere here.

Won't do you any good... in Canada sidearms are scarier than bears...

The one truly close encounter I had with a bear likely resulted in me doing something similar..... but also likely at a higher octave and longer....I certainly could not have collected myself that quickly and continued the video..... and my experience was nowhere near as intense, in fact it looks like the hunter jammed his bow in the bear's mouth... and I was carrying a rifle file and admittedly froze...

Can you relate your experience where you remained "grizzly adams" level stoic in a similar situation?

Sure and I didn't scream like a girl, sorry to disappoint. That was way funny video though lmao

I've never had find out how I would react to that situation and hope I never do, but I will admit with 100% certainty that guy handled it and stayed calmer than I likely would of.

Wouldn't be a CGN thread without these comments. For the most part, I think he did well in evading most of the CGN "but why not me" whining.

I'd also say very close to "traditional hunting" methods. And damn good composure, all things given, to boot.

Was a reference to our pandering, kowtowing Provincial Government and their directive of no enforcement of Fish and Game Laws against blatant misuse of resources.

I bow hunt bears alone but I also pack a 12.5in shotty with me and hunt from a tree stand. I've had plenty of bears climb up my tree and never had to shoot but I feel a lot better knowing that if I do have to shoot one day, I will be able to do so...

Sadly true. What's the threshold now, 1/64th "Metis" or "First Nations" to be able to exercise your "traditional" subsistence rights in Ontario?
