I'm thinking about building an old-fashioned tinder lighter, common 2-300 years ago. For those not familiar with them, they were in essence small flintlock pistols minus the barrel, but with the addition of a tray or box under the frizzen. Tinder was placed in the box and firing the device showered sparks down onto it - much more convenient than, say, a manual flint and steel set.
The best ones used to be made with box locks. Not being too aware of the state of the muzzle-loader world, can anyone recommend a source or dealer for small box lock pistol? Not wanting to alter an antique, a reproduction would be ideal, provided that the lock actually works. I have a 12(6) ticket, if that matters. It wouldn't stay a firearm in any case.
Thanks.
