Ontario Transfer Wait Times?

My store bought transfer just was approved today. It was initiated on May the 10th. So 21 days to rubber stamp it......

Now I get to wait another 8 days while it travels across the country to me.

I have one with an Ontario Retailer from May 10th as well still pending.

Of course so is the second one from the April 24th Alberta auction now at 37 days.............

Be nice, be courteous, be friendly. Don't ##### at them for taking forever. They can put you on the bottom of the pile as fast as they can move you to the top.

Much more effective to file a complaint with the Ombudsman. Put it so to make a distinction between the staff and the management of the operation which is the problem not the
staff.

Cite under resourcing and under staffing that is not appropriate for workloads resulting in unacceptable wait times for routine transactions.

Hey, since we're on the subject, I ordered a Tokarev from FOC on the 25th, and it says a shipping label has been created but hasn't shipped yet (fair enough). This is my first restricted. Is there a way for me to know if it's going through the transfer process? How do I know what it's doing right now? I'm in BC.

FOC is who? If they are a gun dealer, they take care of the transfer from their end and usually have priority with the CFO's office. Phone FOC and ask what's happening and for the transfer reference #.

And cool, thanks - I noticed on the RCMP login thing they have a spot for checking registration application statuses, is that only for if I personally make the registration request on that site?

? I think that's for checking the status of an application for a PAL/RPAL.
The only way to transfer a registration is by phone as I understand things.
If you obtain the transfer ref # from FOC you can phone the CFO and ask for a transfer status update.

If FOC initiated the transfer it's the BC CFO that's holding you up. First acquisitions usually take a little longer than those you do later.

No no there's a spot for checking your registration status. On the login it says:

Registration
Services associated with your firearm(s)

- Check Registration application status
- Register Firearms

So I guess the application status would only be if you initiate it yourself? Because I don't see anything under that section with the order in place.

Have you called the Orillia CFO? They usually give a better answer then that. I got hasn't been assigned then today it was with someone and they sent me through to her.

Interesting to say the least! My services Canada login got me in to boot. So I suppose if a seller provided all the pertinent information S/N etc etc one could actually register a gun to one's self? I wonder how they deal with validating that the registration request is legit?

Yep, uses the same sign-in service as them. And that's a good point, not sure how it's all regulated tbh!

I'm sure the recent M&P15 sale hasn't helped the Ontario CFO's office either. Mass amounts of transfers going in because at $659.99/$699.99 how can you not buy that AR!?
