the stock on my new marstar norc is a boyds thick, like the "big red birch" stocks in the USA, the one on my DA Socom, I prefer, it is a boyds slim profile, lighter and way nicer to hold , also have a fiberglass usgi slotted hand guard on it as well

HunterHenderson, what hardware did you use to mount the front sling swivel? And did Boyds mail the stock directly to you?

Cheers & Thanks
Jay

I just drilled out the rivets and bought two allen head black bolts from crappy tire and two nuts, bolted the stock sling mount on the wood stock, lock tight and a dremmel so it didn't bind on op rod and its good to go. Yes boyds mails direct to you, I see they still have the slim profile in stock

ORDERED!!! Thanks HunterHenderson.

The muzzle thread is metric, metric flash hider or muzzle brake are available for this rifle? Or any adapter exist?

Matador Arms sells the Hammerhead flash hider that's made specifically for the Norinco guns. Col Mustard has them, and I've seen them on the shelf at Shooting Edge, and they are doubtless available elsewhere. I have one on my Socom...dunno how effective it is, but it looks way cool.... The price is right too...on sale for $60.

ah-ha. now I got some direction. thank you.

Jay,

You're a bad influence - I want one of these M14 shorties now...how do you like it?

I like it & have ordered:
- a Boyd slim walnut stock,
- some E Lander AIA Enfield mags, and I will grab
- a rear sight as well as the op rod spring guide rod.

One negative is the tack welds on the bottom of the mags which prevents maintenance...

Cheers
Jay

Boyds often puts the m1a stocks on sale for July the 4th (USA patriot thing for them).

D'oh! Maybe I should have waited? Or... Maybe I should order a SECOND ONE? That way I could keep the one I like better & sell the second one... Chuckle

Cheers
Jay

Yup. Arriving sometime this week hopefully. Boyd's walnut stock hasn't shipped yet but that's ok because I'm still trying to decide to scope or not. I think I've settled on m14.ca's CASM rail at least... if I do scope it.
