ORA CQBm3, this Sat, who's excited?

Another great match and we finally had some amazing weather for the first time this year.
I would also like to send out a big thank you to Barney, Steve, Jeff and Greg for running such a smooth match, and to all the shooters that help out in the set up and tear down, hopefully we will see you all again at the next match.

The top scores are pretty impressive.
That's the most "V's" I've ever shot and I still couldn't break 400.
Have to keep working on the pistol accuracy to get over the hump I think.

Well, if you want to be great; Be Grateful! :wave:

I had a wonderful time with all of you. This is what I'm grateful for:

* a great community, fast to learn, fast to work and get the clean up done, super safety conscious, good habits... what's not to like? :cool:
* a well trained volunteer crew, super competent, hard working and on point, everyone knew their jobs well
* super shooters
* fantastic weather
* a fast march off
* great photos taken, then put up by Ganderite... my wife says I don't have a skinny/thin side, I beg to differ... ha haha
* a quick clean up, texted my wife at 1325 that we were waiting for stats at the picnic table
* a well prepared match procedure that's been tweaked over the years... nice to observe all that... :eek:
* a most eager MD (Andrew Dink28) to cycle the volunteers through the tasks and matches... we all play a part ;)

I've most happy to help out once again on this end! Now the rest of you, step up and volunteer, you see we have a great community here and it's only going to get better. I've travelled across the country doing CQB clinics (BC, AB, SK, MB, and ON) and we are the envy of other Match Directors. We MD types seem to feed off each other and also cross pollinate ideas/tweaks/improvements. It's wonderful seeing the big picture unfold.

So step up and throw down (old snowboarder mantra), don't step down and throw up.... :evil:

Okay, competitors.... what are you grateful for?

Cheers, :wave:

Barney

Well, there was no Swedish Bikini Team.:( It was good though to have Tactical Teacher run the match.:) As TT taught, on the advance portions, stop with the foot on the string THEN take the safety off. Sounds like a good habit to get into. Even running a match, he was teaching.
I did a personal best of being 3rd overall. I could have done better but for an ammo glitch. I didn't like the sound of my last shot on my first pistol magazine so stopped and didn't reload and fire the next magazine. These are hand loads that have had squibs hang the bullet up in the barrel. The bullet did leave the barrel but the case didn't eject. I carry a brass drift to check the barrel. No point in risking a kaboom.
CQB joy.

You were wise to stop shooting so you could check the barrel.

I was once shooting a 1911 in 45 with some very old match ammo. I was shooting rapid fire. A shot did not eject, so I racked and carried on.
Burst the barrel. As I pulled the trigger I realized I should have checked the barrel first.

I am thankful for my reloads working well. Lose of points was due to kit that needed tweaking but it has been done. Happy to enjoy an excellent match and a great practice run-up helped reinforce good habits on the match.

I'm grateful for the shooters that bring out the newbies, to expand our ranks.

Also grateful that I brought out a spare AR, as the charging handle broke on the one my son was shooting so he swapped it out of the spare and kept on going.

You're going to have to get him his own rifle. The lad is rough on your toys. :)

I'm grateful for being allowed to shoot on these great military ranges, for everyone who makes the matches happen, for an understanding wife and a wonderful community of supportive folks who come out and have a fun, safe day.

Yeah. but it sort of justified getting an upgraded charging handle, it's the same one featured in this month's Calibre magazine. Makes a great early Father's Day present. He's been a M305 fan, but when we got home he said that he should look into getting an AR of his own.
