Most accurate budget bolt action 22.

Best cheap and super accurate .22; Norinco JW15A $219.00 if you can still find one. Clip design allows shorts to be used (although I have not tried), but it out-shoots Marlins, Savages and Cooeys routinely.

I'm a big fan of the Norinco JW-15, but I wouldn't say it's more accurate than the competition. There are lots of very accurate savages and marlins out there that will beat the two JW-15's (13") I tried.

But I would also argue that the semi auto 22 Browning clone, the JW-20 is more accurate than the JW-15.
I can't explain it, but that's my experience.

I've never had the pleasure, but would like to try one.

I just ordered a Scorpio from Durham Outdoors last night, I have heard that they are also very accurate, but so far it is "heard", I will post a review thread once it arrives. $229.00.

BTW, with the new sub-sonic .22 LR (have not tried them either) one may not have to use shorts for "quiet" shooting.

love my Marlin XT-22. nice wood stock, put a scope on and it'll shoot 1" groups @ 50 yards with fairly cheap ammo (CCI blazer and mini mag) or better and I'm new to this game. That said I wouldn't mind having saved a couple more pennies and got a CZ or a higher end savage. But this felt way better than the cheap Savage mark2. The marlin has a great crisp trigger, easy to change pull weight too.

you know the "cheap" Savage MK II price goes up to $600+ for the wood stock ones, don't you?

He specified a budget that starts creeping out of budget range. Yes those ones are more expensive but not the ones that are being discussed I believe. The budget MKII are hollow stocks and feel cheap and flimsy. Why spend $400 extra to get a wood stock when you can get others cheaper with a wood stock already that are comparable?

Savage MKII all over.
I freakin' love mine. $180 like new second hand off the EE.
Meter for meter it's literally the most accurate gun I own. There are other cheap bolt .22's out there.
But they aren't as affordable as the MKII. Get a set of Tech Sights and see what it can really do!

Travis,

Where do you get the Mk2 Tech Sights from in Canada ?
Thanks.

my cheap and flimsy Savage MK II FV with the plastic stock (which is a bit short) and bull barrel at 100m

Optics Camp will ship them Sir.
NOT optics planet, they are dodgey on certain items.
I can't remember what it came to after shipping and conversion but it was right around $100 CAD
I only shoot irons. No time for expensive finicky glass on any of my rifles.
Huge improvement on accuracy and consistency with the Tech Sights on her

For 200 thats going to be tough m my suggestion is always the marlin xt at around 280.00 new is the most accurate out of the box bang for the buck

My vote is for the XT also but a BNIB old stock the last of which is drying up. The QC is not a good after Remington took over but either way a good maple laminate stock provides a stable platform and I am still a huge fan of the micro groove barrels.

Alternatively you could buy used. Earlier this year I bought a minty CIL 111 for $130 from a local dealer and last month bought an Anschutz 1416 for $195 online from a store in eastern Ontario. They even through in free delivery. The QC, materials and attention to details is top notch which translates into accuracy and a good reputation.

My old Lakefield Mossberg 346B , used to shoot nose to nose with the Anschutz gunners at our monthly .22 matches . Peep sights, no rest .Ammo fussy , had to go through several brands to find the right one. Federal , I believe was the one. Haven't shot for years . Must make an effort.

I looked for one as I have owned a lot of Russian guns over the years; however they must be made of that rare element "unobtanium"; now that I have a bunch of rifles I like, I found one on Ontario Gun Post: h ttps://www.#######.ca/firearms/rifles/st-catharines/430r-toz-mod-17. I think his asking price is over-inflated by about $100 considering he condition. I have contacted him regarding a couple of hand guns that had a condition listed as 8/10 and he was 50-75$ more than I could order them new.

Tell us more about yours; I may have to start looking again!

Great trigger, adjustable rear sight (very similar to the mosin), balances great free hand, feeds everything i put in it.
Shoots as good as my CZ 455, maybe a little better. ( That may be my shooting and not a reflection on the CZ 455)

I find they float around $200.

I will keep my eye open; that guy on the other site is asking 479; I have made him reasonable offers on other stuff, and he never even had the decency to reply back. I think he may be a dealer that is trying to recoup some losses from bad trades.
