I have a question for you fellow gunnies, I am looking to make my Benelli M4 look a little more classic by changing out the furniture to wood. I don't know if there is any out there? Or if any of the other model of Benelli's stocks fit the M4? Please let me know if anyone knows of any place to get some wooden furniture.

Cheers

The only other stock I have seen is a field stock for the M4. Which is a bit more traditional over the pistol grip. I want to try that out but I have not seen any new ones in Canada for a while now. CTCS was where I originally saw it. The rest of the stocks I have found were all pistol grip polymer

Classy way to go. Walnut and blued steel have always been the best materials from which to construct a firearm.

Help me out a bit, though. "Furniture", when applied to guns, does not mean the stocks. Furniture on a gun refers to the barrel bands, escutcheons, trigger guard, and any other small metal parts. Brass and steel are the two most common materials used for this purpose. Granted, people know what you mean. But, we already have a reputation in Canada - no sense feeding the trolls.

not in the black rifle world

So the black rifle world insists on using the wrong words?? Interesting. Do all words have a different meaning over there? Perhaps you can confirm what a "rifle" means in the black rifle world. Is it a cannon? What do you call a butt stock. An artichoke?

That would be the same "world" that calls a shotgun a "shotty." Hardly an example worth emulating.

As for the original question you might be able to repurpose a wood stock meant for a Benelli M2. The buttstock would probably fit but I am less sure about the forend. It wouldn't be an inexpensive prospect but it would be a definite improvement.

Thanks, I will give that a try and see how it goes.

Wow, that's a bit of an elitist statement.
So anyone that uses slang is part of the "Black rifle world" and is beneath you?

There's nothing "elitist" about Claybuster's comment. I share his annoyance at the "black gun" world's misuse of reasonable and longstanding (several hundred years) terms used to describe our guns. It confuses our language. "Furniture" is part of a technical description. Willfully promulgating it's use to mean something else increases the likelihood of error and misunderstanding. Too bad for all the black gun enthusiasts who have never heard the correct definition. Like I said before....you might as well call the stock an "artichoke".

Is it elitist to spend just a few minutes educating yourself as to the correct terminology? I'm sure, like other gun enthusiasts, the black gun guys spend lots of time learning about different aspects of their guns and their use. Why not get this right?

Evolution. Things change.
Also, the "Elitist" comment had to do with slang as stated in my last post, not about the word "Furniture".
Im not going to get into online debate with you about it.
Its widely accepted.

Same with "boomstick, gauge, Remmy, Mossy, Winny" and the other dumbass names used by some people to describe shotguns.

Why is it that the black gun crowd for all their swagger and tacticoolness are so sensitive? They are however the very first to attack anyone if they deem someone is incorrectly using terms such as "assault rifle, high capacity magazine or (gasp) clip."

Here's a guide to shotgun jargon that you might find of some use.

Furniture:
The metal parts attached to the action such as trigger guard, top and bottom straps.

LOL, So true.

So let me get this straight.
I said it was Elitist to say that using slang is beneath you.
And your response is "yes" and you list off more slang?

Also no "Black rifle world" people are jumping on anyone else in this thread.
YOU and Clay jumped on the OP for using slang. No "Assault clips" were named here.

JoKa, go back and read the thread. No one jumped all over the OP. Straightshooter pointed out the incorrect usage of the term and offered a proper definition. Claybuster and I responded to someone named BOZO. And then you.

And we've all seen the posts in a multitude of threads of guys complaining about the terms assault rifles or clips. A bit disingenuous pretending that doesn't happen because no one in this thread did it.

You are correct. It was to BOZO not the OP.
I just dont see a difference between guys complaining about "Mag vs clip" and "Furniture vs Stock".
Be it in this thread or others.

LOL, There isn't a difference. I believe Claybuster was just pointing out the hypocrisy of the black gun crowd. Fine to use a term incorrectly when they are doing it (furniture) but let someone else use a black gun term incorrectly (magazine/clip) and they are all over the offender.
