Blonde Mosin Nagant

I have had a few blonde Russian ones in the past, but they all had a shellac finish on them.

Yes, but a clear shellac finish. That's how the rifles that came into Lever's were finished as well. I have no idea why they would finish them in such a manner because they certainly stand out. Maybe special parade or palace guard. I'm just guessing but I've personally seen and handled them albeit 50 years ago.

I have a blonde 91/30 that I bought in the 1980's from a local dealer. I am away from home right now, but I'll have to have another look at it. It was my first Mosin Nagant.

Claven here are some pics of my slots, no metal work or pressed escutcheons what so ever and judging by the total lack of wear on the shellac it never had so much as a sling slid into said slots after refurb and yes its been refurb with no two numbers matching.

I sold recently a hex mosin that was pretty blonde. It's possible that it was refurbed in that condition. They aren't common tho, afaik the original finish was an oil one, no shellac. Like a Finn. But with a million different refurb outfits you can get some interesting variation. Of course, it could just be a bubba.

That's truly odd. It's a Finn m91 action in a stock that looks eastern European or perhaps yugoslavian. Truth be told, I'm struggling to see how it could have left Finland like that.

Do you have an overall pic of it? Might help ID it.

Blonde,Polish M44s,and Hungarian M48 and M52....very few are Russian in orgin, but they are out there...Claven is likely right and the rfle was cleaned up here at some point,....

Hmmmm, those pics and the small star,...that looks Albanian.....and the grain,..Yugo kinda....that does not look refinished..
More questions,how long is she,..91 30....

It's a wartike 91/30 stock on a finnish m91. And the stock has been refinished, definitely, but not by bubba. That stock looks either it's either a czech or Yugo refinished piece of wood.

Someone married that stock to that rifle after it left Finland. Definitely. Not even the right stock for that model rifle.

Hi Claven, if you are in Ottawa and want to roll around to see the rifle and get a better idea (and educate me) on what the heck it is let me know.
