The X95 is the modern upgraded Tavor rifle. However I see a lot of posts saying the TAR21 has better accuracy then the X95. I have handled the the X95 and it doesn't seem all that much better to me. I dont think its worth the upgrade from a TAR21 if you have one personally. Of course opinions will always differ.

I thought I would create a little poll to see what others think as well. And hear some opinions.

I prefer the TAR21 to the X95. I actually find the ergos are better on the TAR21; the X95 charging handle is awkward to me, and my right wrist rubs against the stock when holding the pistol grip. The stock trigger is nicer, as is the mag release, but it is nowhere near enough to get me buy a X95 over the TAR21.

My own take is that they're probably comparable in accuracy, but the X95 has a better trigger by deafult and more mounting options. That being said, I think the TAR is better for ergonomics and I personally like the rear magazine release. Depending on the configuration they can also be quite a bit lighter (short rail, CTAR barrel). Not that it matters in Canada, but you cannot run the PMAG 60-round drum mag in the X95.

With the affordable cost (~$2k) and Geissele upgrades, I'm going to stick with the original Tavor TAR. Maybe once we see more aftermarket accessories for the X95 that will change, but right now I would be very hard-pressed to give up my TAR for an X95.

And yes, I agree with the ACR. That's why I have one of those, too. ;)
Awesome, there's now a poll! I love polls!!

Never had the pleasure to shoot the TAR-21 however due to reports I believe its a great rifle. I have the X95 version and can't be happier with it. Keep in mind the "insides" are interchangeable and most of the changes were made due to what the IDF wanted. Theirs of course being 13.5 inch barrels and select fire.

Having owned the 21 and handled the X95, I don't see the difference in cost being worth the convenience of the AR mag release and a slightly better stock trigger. If it was my first purchase between the two, I might be persuaded to consider the X95 but as it is, the 21 is it for me.
My first love is still the AR platform though.

And then the fight started. ;)

I've been waiting for them to go at it for awhile now...but they just sit there, staring at each other :p

I have the TAR21 and won't even consider trading for the X95. I have handled the X95 (it is a nice piece) but I don't think the couple little changes are worth the cost to trade. The TAR21 is a fine rifle. For the money it will cost for me to trade I'd spend it on the Geissele trigger pack and trigger bow. I would then have a better rifle than either in factory configuration. For someone who doesn't have either yet, I don't think you could go wrong no matter which one you choose. The X95 will have a slightly bigger stock trigger but the TAR21 can be found for a little less money.

turns out that is not entirely true. The US spec recievers and BCG are different from our original Tar21's. Tar 21 BCG have a little more material on the lower rear portion that disallows its insertion into US spec recievers.

I have both X95 and TAVOR, in the military world, they are the most prolific bullpup weapon system so it is good to know how to use them.

I don't see anything wrong with the original TAVOR. It has a more angled pistol grip and a longer LOP so the mass seems to sit more to the rear. The ergonomic is more geared towards the regular shooting position in military qualification down at the prone. If you are a big guy with a bigger hand, and shoot in more traditional position the TAVOR is probably more fitting.

The X95 was originally called the micro-TAVOR back in the days, which was a result of input from the assaulters. If you look at what assaulters do versus what the regular grunts do at qualification, there are certainly differences. Hence the micro got a straighter pistol grip ( the same reason BCM, HK416, and magpul make straight pistol grips for AR15) because it is more conductive for faster trigger work. The shorter LOP, the round handguard and the relocated charging handle are all for that kind of work.

I understand the X95 charging handle is in the way, but the Israelis tend to use grip lower on vertical grips and have their light mounted low, so it is not an issue for them. You can put the handle on the right side, it is actually easier to clear type 2 malfunction with this arrangement.

Accuracy wise, in all practicalities they are similar. They are 300m Minute of a Person accurate and that is pretty much it. I don't tend to analyze it too much. All in all, they are effective and reliable weapons.

Yes they are! Ask mikethebike!
Btw, how's your foot?

Ill be all healed up for the class in Oct :) , Ill schedule the operation for after the class :) Something about reattaching tendons :-(

Yeah I no longer own a X95 my wife took it. She even asked me why I liked a girls gun.... hahahahahha

I own a TAR21, and handled the X95. I prefer the mag release on the TAR21. I can do it all with one hand. I had the pleasure of handling an X95 with a non free dropping mag. I had to use both hands to remove it. One to press the mag release, and the other to pull the mag out. That killed it for me. The ability to do it all with one hand puts the TAR21 at the top of the list for me.

Everything else is purely cosmetic, in which case, I still prefer the TAR21.
