Gen2 DA 50BMG stiff bolt-opinions needed

The only Chinese gun I'd consider these days is a Chinese SKS.

Other than that, they can all go away far as I'm concerned. I'm sick of all the little issues with them. Im even sick of my Grizzly 12 gauge which runs like a reliable tank.

Sorry to hear about your 50 BMG upper issues OP. I was considering one of them as well but now there's no way.

DA50 isn't Chinese.

These sort of things are wrong, they shouldn't happen and they should be dealt with. But if it was the norm, we would see way more than we do. Hopefully CA is more diligent about double checking everything on these rifles from now on, possibly even a test fire before it makes it to the warehouse.

My mistake then, I thought is was Chi-Com. None the less, my personal choice on Chinese guns remains the same from experience.

Mine shoots and extracts fine with IMI (best ammo for the price imho), AE is ok but accuracy wasn't great. The pmc stuff seems really hot and is very difficult to extract. I have the same ring near the shoulder and my fired brass looks similar; I can chamber fired AE and IMI cases with a bit of force, just like my 308. The pmc will not chamber a fired case at all, i blackened a fired PMC case and the problem seems to be around/just in front of the web, you can see rotary striations in your photo. Funny thing is I cannot get any difference when I mic a fired AE case vs fired pmc... i wonder if the pmc brass is considerably harder? AE is definitely more variable size wise, some rounds chamber easy and some require a bit of force.
The ring near the shoulder is a bit disconcerting, mines the same, but on the blackened empty PMC case I cannot see any contact. Then again I can't close the bolt completely...
If you can't close the bolt on a loaded round you've definitely got issues...

Canada ammo has always done right by me, really helped out when I wanted to upgrade my gen 1 to gen 2. Also I have a Nork 1911 and m305 and they work fine/give good value for what they are. Good guns to build off too.

Some day I'd like to get a 50BMG, when I finally do it will likely be a Cadex Tremor 50, save up do it right and buy once, none of these cheaper setups have ever sparked my interest to be honest.

Hope everyone who is having problems with theirs gets it straitened out.

I have had difficulty extracting the fired casing and now spray them with a Teflon spray. No issues since.

Lubricating ammunition makes me feel uneasy. When a cartridge is fired, the brass 'swells' and 'grabs' the chamber. If you lubricate cartridges prior to firing, the lugs take much more force... You should not have to lubricate cartridges in a modern firearm to get it to function as intended...

My two cents.

OP, do you have an update?

Cheers
Jay

All the in stock 50 bmg barrels (26" and 32") are defected due" rings in the chamber" according to Canada ammo and no ETA for when the new batch of barrel will be here !I am not impressed at all but I will give them few more weeks(Purchased this 50bmg NEW on 2nd June and upper was sent back from AB on 12th June). Maybe I should ask for full refund!

Barrels are made by Mossberg FYI

My first shot with my DA 50 the action locked up and only with severe force was I able to extract the case. There was a ring around the end of the neck and 1/2 inch of abrasion 1/4 inch from the base of the shell. I have contacted Canada Ammo.

I have the same issue as you and my upper is with Canada ammo for like 1 month now.

Still awaiting for the "answer/feebback" from Mossberg-last email I got from CA which doesn't help at all!

It is my guess that the chambers are beyond polishing to make them right. They were not all bad. I messaged another DA 50 Gen 2 owner whose gun works perfectly. My hope is the chambering issues will be resolved successfully.

Have a 32" Gen 1 when I first got it back from atrs it chambered xm33 and m33 ball fine but hornady was really tight but extracts with a light tap of the palm thats the only problem iv had with it. Getting a 8.5" made at atrs right now with a custom barrel blank from lija or someone cant remember ill see if that extracts better.

Christmas

Buddy has the second gen DA50 and has no trouble extracting fired brass. He has been shooting XM33 so far.

My first round of American Eagle (Federal) XM33C .50BMG 660gr fired in my DA 50 locked the action solid. I called the store from the range, spoke to the guy on the counter who told me he wasn't tech support. When I explained to him what had happened, he put me on hold; spoke to another guy in the counter who told him to tell me to use a spent casing as extra leverage to help pull the extractor handle back. When I told him I didn't have a spent round, he said you can try a piece of wood. Then said failing that, pack up your gun your day is done. That spent case is locked up in my gun. When I contacted Tech Support via email this is the response I received: Hi Kevin,
I had a talk with our manager and it seems like you are not the only one. We are working on a solution with the manufacture and as soon as we figure out a solution, we will contact you and have you send it in for repair. Send me your order number so that i can keep you on file. Regards. That was July 11, still waiting for an update from them.

My upper was sent back on 12th June and no ETA for the new barrel as today. I will ask for full refund if I don't hear anything on 1st Aug

Any updates gentlemen? Mines got the ring and sticky chamber as well, just wondering if I should send it in. Shoots well but a bit of a bear to extract. Cheers!

I contacted Canada Ammo last week. No resolution at this point. CA indicated they are waiting for an answer from the barrel manufacturer.
