ACR Media and Info Thread

The one nice thing with the ACR is that you can set it to "S" (suppressed) for running subsonic 300Blk.

Technically that shouldn't work, S setting bleeds off more gas to compensate for the extra backpressure from the suppressor. 300BLK should work fine on the U setting if your gas port is correctly sized. I've never switched mine to S and I've run three different non restricted 223 barrels, my 300BLK barrel and the 6.8SPC barrel I sold. All ran fine on U.

Remington 30 AR is the ideal 7.62 caliber for the ACR, the rest do not measure up

Meh, it is an impressive round but it all depends what you want to do with your rifle. I already have a good hunting rifle that beats the hell out of the 30AR and I already reload for 300BLK so even though I wouldn't mind a 30AR conversion I wouldn't give up my 300BLK for it. I can still hunt with 300BLK as long as I keep it to 150 yards or less in order to ensure a humane kill on a deer.
If someone isn't a handloader and actually wants to shoot their rifle on a regular basis outside of hunting season then the harder to find and more expensive 30AR isn't so great any more.
Not everyone needs the most powerful flattest shooting round available for everyday shooting.

I have had zero trouble getting factory ammo for the 30 AR in canada and the fmj is under a dollar a round

Custom made from scratch, Herron Arms. Works with 450 bushmaster as well even though the slightly different rim size.

So same bolt and mags for both calibers

Do you know what material he used to make it? Surface treatment?
Just wondering about lifespan.
Does Ian have the reamer for 30AR or did you buy one and supply it to him for chambering?

obviously, its the better one.

Ha!

I practiced a lot with my old ACR over the years. Awesome platform, functionally and ergonomically amazing, but was never fond of the 'look' all in black, so played around with rail covers, etc in brown and green, but still never really loved the appearance, but who cares, right? Looks are really secondary. Still, when I decided I wanted one short-barreled restricted one and a NR one for the bush, I bought a black one and was planning to buy another black one when I had the opportunity to pick up a coyote one. Started swapping parts, and wow! I've always liked two-tone guns, so now I think I'm happy! Both are still restricted, but I think I'm going to get the black upper re-registered as NR. Might use the short one for courses in the future :)
