Who is buying a Type81?

The M10X would be more likely be around 2000$ and if I remember correctly was using AK mags :(

The Type 81 would never appeal to me since it's another platform that is 5 rounds per mag.

I have a Mini 14..... but that is the only rifle I will own that cannot take pistol mags

here r my 0.5 cents:
1. type 81 would appeal to me ONLY if it uses AK mags (incl. 10rnd pistol mags) w/o any fitting job on mags or with no more than 3min cosmetic filing.
2. x5 round mags is not a big deal to me 'coz I'd stock it as SHTF rifle with a simple reliable mechanism which takes AK47 mags, which are plenty even in N. America. Type 81, I presume will be mostly like AK47 interior parts? If so-then it is a good reliable rifle. I don't care if it is 3moa on 100m vs 0.5-1 moa, all I care is simple + tank reliable gun I may depend my family life on.
3. Another AK47mag friendly available in CANADA:
A) M305a is available in Canada, but the whole engineering is crazy, compared to SKS/ AK, though simpler than AR15; also M305a is very heavy; no way I am taking crazy engineering complexity + questionable reliability like AR15 or Nor.M305a into the SHTF-FOREST. I am talking not greenhouse reliability , but real combat w/o any cleaning for days. Also M305a-come on 700-800 bucks for something that is non-tactical cheap plastic.... seriously? SKS-KD-578 in tactical set-up with high quality Israeli AK47 mags
B) As to SKS-KD-I bought it. I will be actively testing it (see another topic in this RedRifle forum), before I can recommend it or trust it
4. if type 81 uses proprietary mags-nope, this is already a marketing failure, even all China uses these mags... well I will compromise on proprietary mags ONLY if they are officially used in Chinese army and cost <25-35CaD and readily available in Canada
5. I will buy only if it is / will be produced in Canada/USA or already imported into Canada and above applies

WTF are you talking about!?!?!?!

There is NO 10 rnd AK mags, how do I know cuz I was the one to start the 10 rnd AK mag bonanza with my mutant pistol import.

Next, the Type 81 DOES NOT USE AK mags. It uses T81 mags which are different then AK mags.
You keep contradicting yourself as the Type 81 mags ARE 29$ each from TI and used with the Chinese miltary with their TYPE 81 rifles!!!!
(RE your # 4 on your list^^^^)

So I guess you are out from buying a type 81 then cuz it does or does not use AK mags???

1. I was talking about 10 rounds JUST IF they somehow appear on our market
2. I will not buy 81 'coz it doesn't take AK-mags-yes, that's right, but if option #4 becomes true (see prev. post)-then maybe I will consider. Thus, I am not contradicting, those are options and not dogmatic statements in my previous post. Personally I have no enough info re: Chinese mil. using those mags "en mass", do you? Does our market has those mags in great amount and great price (I am guessing from your post.. at 30CaD)? I doubt that. Is the interior of type 81 AK-compatible? If not, how spare parts will be marketed/ imported and by whom? What will be the price for those parts? What are the most critical parts or most commonly failing parts?
4. DO you know how vastly type 81 mags/ rifle is spread in Chinese army? Is it a rifle they will phase out or still will be using for the next 10-15 years to come? Do you have such info? I don't. If you do-please share. How reliable is this rifle? AK-reliable?
5. Again, re: type 81 and AK mags-I know Chinese mil. version doesn't take AK mags-that's why-I clearly stated #4 option in my previous post. Do you know which configuration type 81 will be imported, really, for sure? Do you know 100% it is not the version which is adapted for AK mags? I don't. If you know for sure-please share
6. Relax, take it easy, this is not a quiz, no marks and no need for "WTF-style" nervousness :)

This derailed quickly...why do people care so much about what I spend my money on? Get a ####ing life...I don't recall anyone who's in on the order preaching about accuracy, either...if it's as good as my SKS, that's fine...and leave my communist military gun fetish out of it...

Ok, the 81 was general issue to the PLA in the 80s and into the 90s. Currently it is used by reserves and police. As for internal parts, I think few if any are interchangeable with an AK as the 81's heritage is the type 63 which was based mainly on the SKS with some AK sprinkled in.

Seriously though, if worried about parts, mags and Ammo if SHTF then I think you are hasty in writing off the AR. They are no longer your Uncle's '60s Vietnam jam-o-matics

same 2u

u r talking about the model , which will be imported as if it is in front of you
All I know from reviews is the old type 81 model and I am sceptical that re: veritability of info on newly imported model: text description and a couple of photos-that's all I have re: new model, no a single detailed video
you cannot answer most of the questions I asked, I will leave you in your LMAFO-state

good luck

And it took him another day to add the rest of that statment.

Just to clarify for you once and for all as simple as this is to underetand:

NO the Type 81 does not use AK mags, it uses almost a very similar mag except it has a last round bolt hold open and yes it easy commonly available to purchase these mags through TI.
The Chinese military used specifically this mag for their type 81 cuz there is NO other mag available for it so YES it is a militare spec mag.

I have personally held, shouldered and taken apart the Type 81 and I can say it is robust, feels excellent when shouldered (I actually prefer this over the vz58 and I am a HUGE vz fan)

There are a few articles from years ago that are easy to Google for yourself and read on your own time yo see what others say about it. With the exception of a couple of videos aswell

Hope that helps you understand better now

Looking forward to getting mine, been onboard with the pre order since early on. If it is a lemon, it was my money to spend and it will probably be a low low volume " lemon" that will be sought after. If it is a performer all the naysayers can kis my azz and wait and see if there is another import. My money my decision.

Now should I double down and order a fixed stock?? Contemplating heavily!
