The M10X would be more likely be around 2000$ and if I remember correctly was using AK mags
The Type 81 would never appeal to me since it's another platform that is 5 rounds per mag.
I have a Mini 14..... but that is the only rifle I will own that cannot take pistol mags
here r my 0.5 cents:
1. type 81 would appeal to me ONLY if it uses AK mags (incl. 10rnd pistol mags) w/o any fitting job on mags or with no more than 3min cosmetic filing.
2. x5 round mags is not a big deal to me 'coz I'd stock it as SHTF rifle with a simple reliable mechanism which takes AK47 mags, which are plenty even in N. America. Type 81, I presume will be mostly like AK47 interior parts? If so-then it is a good reliable rifle. I don't care if it is 3moa on 100m vs 0.5-1 moa, all I care is simple + tank reliable gun I may depend my family life on.
3. Another AK47mag friendly available in CANADA:
A) M305a is available in Canada, but the whole engineering is crazy, compared to SKS/ AK, though simpler than AR15; also M305a is very heavy; no way I am taking crazy engineering complexity + questionable reliability like AR15 or Nor.M305a into the SHTF-FOREST. I am talking not greenhouse reliability , but real combat w/o any cleaning for days. Also M305a-come on 700-800 bucks for something that is non-tactical cheap plastic.... seriously? SKS-KD-578 in tactical set-up with high quality Israeli AK47 mags
B) As to SKS-KD-I bought it. I will be actively testing it (see another topic in this RedRifle forum), before I can recommend it or trust it
4. if type 81 uses proprietary mags-nope, this is already a marketing failure, even all China uses these mags... well I will compromise on proprietary mags ONLY if they are officially used in Chinese army and cost <25-35CaD and readily available in Canada
5. I will buy only if it is / will be produced in Canada/USA or already imported into Canada and above applies
