savage axis 2 scout 20" 7.62x39mm

Axis used to be a sub $300 gun with rebate. The poor quality speaks loudly for itself. $780 gives you too many other yet 10x better options. Like the Cz and ruger m77. Don't fall for this axis junk.

I have owned a Savage Axis (for one trip to the range) and I still own my CZ 527 in 7.62x39. There is no question! And, that price listed above is excellent. Buy the CZ, shoot iron sights for fun then scope it and see just how amazingly accurate the little Russian round can be in a quality made gun. Cheap Barnaul ammo runs about 1.25 MOA and my handholds with Hornady SST in front of H4198 run 0.75 MOA.

only read about the x39 Finnlight, never seen one.

i would never buy that ugly x39 Axis/boat anchor
CZ527 is a beauty, a work of art almost
less than 1lb set trigger, accurate as f#*k, georgous wood, light as a feather and solid irons

got a guy in our group that sold his finnlight to fund a 527

Correction:

so i did a little digging into some of my old files and am incorrect on Finnlight offering a x39. it was FN who offered a x39 bolt action. It was the "F" that confused my memory.

Anyway, had always wondered what the FN x39 was like..... sure as hell had to be better than a greatly over priced AXIS in x39 !

Ummm, the Axis is not offered in 7.62x39. The older Model 10 Scout is available in that calibre and is a rarer rifle and maybe worth $760. Unless someone has been reaming an Axis for some God forsaken reason.

Hole Leeeee Crap, "at Savage we have married a mediocre action with a mediocre stock and a mediocre calibre to produce a mediocre scout rifle. We are serious about mediocrity" (that's just humour, not an opinion Axis owners). Seriously though, I guess it will fill a niche with folks already running 7.62x39 but there are better bolt action rifles in that calibre.

Howa Mini... around the same price.
$750+ for an Axis is INSANE.

wait ...... there's a Savage AXIS in x39 ?

wait wait wait ....... that goes for $760 ?

Its an axis 2, so you get the accu trigger. Plus its stainless. Those go for almost $600. Add the mount, iron sights, and lolmuzzle brake...

I wouldn't buy one, (and i love my axis!) But its not as over priced as some seem to think.
