Ontario Transfer Wait Times?

One of the transfers I started on the 4th went through today, so I guess that's progress. But still... 2 weeks in Bantario, while everyone else has 24-48 hours. Unsat.

I renewed my RPAL a few weeks ago and when I called they said it was at the CFO so I asked why? They didn't know so I asked if I could be put through to the CFO in Ontario and they did. The lady there told me there was a back log of everything, so I asked if she was sure there were no issues with my PAL and she said no. 3 days later it came in the mail.

Second transfer started on the 4th went through today. Yay! Odd that they were both started on the same phone call, but were approved a full day apart.

I have done two transfers lately, one from Alberta to Ontario, took 9 days, and the second, from Ontario to Alberta took 19hrs.

All things considered, and reading the long wait times, I considered my last two transfers done in good time. However, the last is a more appropriate time that all CFOs should strive for.

These were done in July 2017

I was told this today, "Ontario CFO is thousands of transfers behind, they are caught up to June 26th transfers as of yesterday"

They might better hire more staff since vendors are offering a lot of great deals and sales these days lol !

Really quite unacceptable. I did one late July 19th here in BC and was approved morning of the 20th. Bought a gun from a fellow in Alberta.

Take Care

Bob

Definitely totally unacceptable Bob but what do we do when they basically have us all my the ballz ? This seems to happen about every 2 years here in Ontario, the Ont Ombudsman usually ends up rattling a few cages other then that we have to smile nod and wait...

One Ont dealer I was talking to today said they had "one customer who was rude and the CFO called the OPP and they called him to see what the rush was to obtain a handgun. Everyone is pretty sensitive these day's Lol"

They seem to have a tendancy to move things along while you are on the phone. Seems once you identify yourself as a person who is going to call them, IF there are no outstanding issues, they move you to the top of the pile just to keep you off their backs.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

So, the CFO's office called the OPP ? Eh ? They are a branch of the OPP.

Yes I know that and was quoting what a vendor on here stated to me in an email this morning. The CFO is a division of the OPP but don't handle all matters obviously.

Just all matters related to firearms and why someone would be in a hurry to get one.

What dealer was that again ?

The CFO does not handle all matters related to firearms. The registrar of firearms and the commissioner of firearms, both have responsibilities and powers under the firearms act and are not the same as the CFOs, but they work together closely.

Lol, what difference does it make who the dealer was? It was the OPP who turned around and asked a buyer why he was in such a hurry to get his handgun as a result of the buyer being rude when he called in to check on a transfer.

Anybody else having a problem understanding what I said lol? :slap:

On the positive side (to me anyway) transfer started by dealer in Ontario back on June 30 was completed at 1:30 today

Nope. Just me. great story though.

Last week I called Orillia to check on the status of my transfer. The woman who answered the phone was very helpful and explained everything I asked her. Well I called again to-day and the lady on the other end said we don't do transfers here call Ottawa, confused now I don't no who to call.
