Ontario Transfer Wait Times?

Last week I called Orillia to check on the status of my transfer. The woman who answered the phone was very helpful and explained everything I asked her. Well I called again to-day and the lady on the other end said we don't do transfers here call Ottawa, confused now I don't no who to call.

To check status call Mirimichi.

Just got the email that my first handgun transfer has been approved. Submitted on August 1 and approved the 4th. Pretty quick judging by reading this thread

Initial registration, or transfer from a previous owner you can do online ?

thx

he mentioned he got some email ... now I realize it may be an email from store.

When you phone in a transfer you can request the NOT be emailed to you. Works great! You don't have to call back to check the transfer status or wait on the paper version in the mail.

I always ask for an email notification, but it's hit or miss with the Ontario CFO as to whether or not they send it. They are batting no better than 500 on this

and when they don't send you one and you ask what happened they insist that you never asked for one.

That's interesting, the last one I sent to ON I did get the NOT emailed.

Lately I have noticed Miramichi has started asking if I wanted the NOT emailed. I find that a bonus as some times I forget to ask.

Last transfer I did was a trade. I asked to be notified when my outgoing transfer was completed and forgot to ask about it going the other way. A couple days later I called to ask to make sure I got an email notice. They said I hadn't, but that they'd add it. I thought it was odd as I was pretty certain that I had asked, but oh well. A few more days pass and I get the notice that the gun coming to me had been approved, and the other guy got the one saying mine to him was approved. Neither of us were notified that the guns that were actually in our possession had transferred ownership. If the 2 of us hadn't been in contact we wouldn't have known until our registrations showed up in the mail.

I haven't purchased a firearm since the 90's and after reading about the wait times I thought it would take me until September to get it. To make matters worse, I've been trying to get a membership at a local gun range and they seem to keep dogging me about joining, which has been a bit of a pain. I decided to finally purchase what I thought was a fantastic deal through Black Eagle on the EE (excellent guy and flawless transaction) but I had no range membership, which in Ontario from what I read wasn't a problem.

We made the deal including EMT on Monday 31 July and by Friday the 4th he emailed me saying that the transfer was approved. The CFO never phoned me, emailed me, or got ahold of me in any way.... much like the post above, unless Black Eagle had let me know the transfer had gone through, the only way I would have known would have been a package and the registration in the mail. Not that I'm complaining....... I'll post some pictures when it gets here.

Things are looking up fellow Ontario CGNers. The Ontario CFO only took 4 business days to process and approve a business transfer for me.

Well as I stated I bought a 460V from my range Sunday afternoon. I called the Ontario CFO this morning to see how things were going since today is my range day. We had a nice chat. Nice people up there. By the time I got to the range at 2pm I had my approval and was able to use my 460. What a light show!!!

My previous post was for a business transaction in Onterrible, what about private transactions. Anybody have better luck there as well?
