Ruger 77/357

Until you specifically develop a load for your rifle, not pistol, you're pissing in the wind. I would search up past issues of Handloader magazine. I have a feeling that either Brian Pearce or Mike Venturino must have written articles on reloading the 357 for rifles, and maybe (if you're lucky) they will have included the Ruger (though any article you find is more likely to have been written for lever guns). Then you can specifically load for your rifle and assess from there. Shooting handloads developed for one firearm in another and hoping for some useful data is pretty optimistic.

while this is generally true, the factory 357mag ammo seems to do quite all right.
I'm getting 1800fps with American Eagle 158gr and I could only match that in handloads with 15gr of A2400 and Speer 158gr RNFP.

This is in an 18" bbl Ruger 77/357

Just ordered one of these from Irun guns. Thought I'd bump the thread to see who else is playing with one??
I have a 77/44 and what made a significant improvement to mine was the installation of a Volquartsen sear. It took the trigger pull from a very creepy 6lbs. to 3lbs. with almost zero creep. If you are going to use yours without a scope I'd suggest replacing the factory rear with a Skinner peep sight.

Are you referring to the barrel mount, or do they have a receiver mount peep too?

I shoot a stainless 77/44 with a VX-3 2.5-8X36mm mounted... it is consistently under 1.5" @ 100 yards with the Hornady 225 FTX and H110. Fun little gun but never sees the field, due to limited time, limited tags and too many nice deer rifle options in the safe.
