Harrisburg, Pa. - IWI US, Inc., a subsidiary of Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Ltd., announced today that they will be phasing out the original TAVOR SAR from their product line.

The TAVOR SAR revolutionized the market for bullpup carbines in the US when it was first introduced in 2013. When the “next generation” TAVOR X95 was released in 2016, sales of the original SAR declined as consumers willingly embraced the improvements and upgrades in the X95.

“The market has spoken and it prefers the TAVOR X95”, said Michael Kassnar, VP of Sales & Marketing for IWI US. “We will phase out TAVOR SAR production over the next few months and concentrate on our X95, along with our recently announced TAVOR 7, for the future.”

The 2017 Golden Bullseye Award winning rifle of the year from Shooting Illustrated, the TAVOR X95’s compact, ergonomic design coupled with it outstanding reliability has won rave reviews from the public and shooting sports media, as well as law enforcement agencies.

The TAVOR X95 bullpup includes many upgrades from the original SAR model including a new fire control pack with a 5 to 6 lb. trigger pull, a repositioning of the ambidextrous mag release to an AR-15 location, Picatinny rails at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions on the forearm with removable rail covers, the charging handle moved closer to the shooter’s center mass and a modular TAVOR style pistol grip that can be replaced with an optional standard pistol grip and traditional trigger guard with a smaller, lower profile bolt release button.

The TAVOR X95 is available in 5.56 in 16.5” barrel for right and left handed shooters, and an 18.5” barrel (also available for restricted states), 9mm with a 17” barrel and the new .300 Blackout version. Conversion kits in 9mm and the new .300 Blackout are also available and color finishes include Black, Flat Dark Earth and OD Green. MSRP is $1,999.00 (.300 BLK is $2,049.00)

So a few things to ponder.

1) Will North Sylva be still getting Tavor Sar21's, or will they also be discontinung all models of the Sar/Tar21 aswell?

2) With IWI.us now producing 18.5" x95, how long until we see sub $2k x95 from IRG as the dollar climbs? :p

3) Where is the pre owned market headed for classic Sar21 in the US, and how about in Canada for the Tar21 if we do not recieve any more Sar/Tar21?

Might have to buy a 1700$ Tar21 soon... lol...

With teh Tar7 going into production I see why they got rid of the Tar21.

New Tar21 production is a bit redundant with the x95 being available, which has a more 'Merica friendly (51st state included) index-finger-drop-free mag release.

We love drop free mags as a continent, pity we don't drop our debts as freely.

IDF stopped buying TAVOR years ago before the US started selling TAVOR, and it is mainly for foreign sale.

It is also a clever sales plan on IWI part. They sold everyone two models instead of one. LOL

Anyways, the original TAVOR will be a nice piece of history 15 years down the road.

I don't understand why the US IWI bothers with 18.5" for the US market. No one in the US will buy 18.5". It is not like the 18.5" is any more accurate than the 16.5" and the MV increase is minimal.

We will not be getting any more Tavors from Israel. Retailers currently have them on sale at a very good price now.

Because they are mindful of us Canadians, LOL.

This.

I think IWI.us wants to become IWI.na

IWI US was producing the SAR-21. Canada was getting the TAR-21 built in Israel. I honestly don't see the X95 as being enough of an improvement over the TAR-21 to justify "upgrading". I'm a little ticked that IWI has essentially cut the legs out from under sellers of their used Tavors without warning.

With out warning? We knew it was a matter of time. IWI us anounced the x95 was on its way what... like 3 quaters ahead of their intended launch window? And what about the Canadian market, dont we have an FRT system that delays launch windows by default sometimes by years?

Please explain how it was without warning... lol

The way I interpreted the marketing of the X95, was that it was to be a complement to the flagship TAR-21 and not a replacement. Rather mixed to negative individual reviews of the X95 did little to change that impression. I will admit that I wasn't particularly enamored with the X95 and probably unconsciously ignored the majority of X95 related content posted after the initial hullabaloo over its introduction waned. My bad. However, since I have zero interest in selling mine, the issue is moot. I think I'll be sad to see the TAR-21 discontinued nevertheless...

Looking forward to the F90 and MDR.

The writings were on the wall after OP cast lead, and the IDF regulars took deliver of X95 in 2012.

TAVOr in the future will most likely only be made licensed by other countries.

It will be a collectible in the years down the road for sure. It is one of the most wide spread systems outside of AK and M16. Columbia, Thailand, Vietnam and Ukraine.

I wouldn't be surprised if the X95 is itself discontinued or at least significantly revised within the next 10 years, Tavor 5 anyone?
