Need some ideas from the reloading pros.

Make your bench as tall as you can to make it comfortable to use when standing

tall Drafting/ bar stool make it ok for sitting

Or you can cut the legs

No toe or knee bangers

This is what I did, I'm 6' so my bench is tall. My bottom shelf is set so I can rest my feet on it when sitting on my stool. It's all about a balance of function and comfort.

im going to be building a bench this weekend that kind of like the first one.

Itll be 4x4 legs, 2x4 frame with a 1" plywood top. ill cut some notches on the insides of the legs so i can slide another sheet of plywood in for a bottom shelf.

nothing fancy, just something a table saw, chop saw and drill can do. i also want to be able to take it apart to get it in the basement easier.

Another option is to just glue and screw it together as one solid unit, but make sure that it will fit through doorways, and isn't too heavy to move.

My bench is made of 2x4s and plywood, wood screws and glue, and follows a standard workbench pattern.

It's only 29" high and 4 feet wide, and I reload sitting. However, I modified the lower shelf from the original design so that it is only half as deep as the top, to allow for leg room. It braces the frame and works well for lower storage. The also-modified top overlaps the frame by 3 1/2" at the front and sides to allow for C-clamping presses and accessories. I added a removable bolt-on single level shelf unit to the top that is about 10" deep to hold stuff.

I moved it to my den from the basement workshop, and then back to the basement, a couple of years later. Pretty easy.

Why did you wait so long to start reloading?

Cauz im retarded...lol...

Today was a slow day didnt get much done, Installed my 3/4 plywood backing and shelf support. I no longer have the money for fancy veneers so it will be just painted for now and will do a Barn door style finishing and doors.

Next week im building the 3 drawers and hopefully have a chance to get started on the upper. After that im on tasking for 2 weeks unfortunatly.

Hmm. Some neat pics and ideas.

I cabbaged a free big desk from the Coop store next door for the office in my playhouse/shop. I spend a lot of time in there when I am not working on a farm. Here's my marvelous idea to get dual use out of the desk. The woodwork is just a prototype (which has been tested many times). I have several different Pro 1000 presses, plus my original Lyman Spar-T, plus a couple of other Lee presses. I saw the idea for the quick change bases in a book years ago.

This setup has worked quite nicely. I do plan to use some fancier material - someday.

Wow, looking really good.

My reloading bench is an old desk.

That brings up a good point. I bought a smaller steel office desk at "Alberta Government Surplus Sales" for $5.00

Just loaded it into my truck and brought it home. It measures 48"wide X 30"deep X 29" high, with a single pedestal, and was in excellent condition.

These old office desks have a really heavy and solid high-density particleboard top, and so would work well for a sit-down reloading set-up. The only objection is that the end drawer pedestal(s) limit press mouting options to the center, unless you don't mind obstructing a top drawer.

Put on some paneling, closed in the back and installed the lower shelf . Bought my full extension slides today for the drawer. Hopefully I have time to build that tommorow.

I'm no pro but here is what a buddy and I built yesterday. Couldn't figure how I wanted to build a reloading bench and one day I saw a free shuffle board table outside the local seniors centre and had a eureka moment. Table is heavy duty already has legs a beautiful work top and not to mention trim. So this is how my repurposed creation came out.

Measures 6.5" long and 22" deep for storage I will be putting a smaller 2 drawer locking filing cabinet underneath it in the corner

Added a drawer today...lol

Still looking good.

There are some 30 inch wide solid doors going into the trash at work so I guess I'm going to be building a new reloading bench. Probably won't be much more than the door screwed on to some 4x4 legs. Of course a shelf would be nice. And maybe a drawer.

Finally made more progress today, Made the upper and put on the back. Not quite sure what way im gonna setup the yellow bins yet .

Doors tommorow :) and hopefully paint and stain on Thursday / Friday :)

As you can see i was super lazy and just bought 2 store containers...lol...
