BCL-102 Scope options

Looking to pick up a scope for my preordered BCL-102. Can't decide between a Nikon M-308 or P-308 or a Bushnell AR with 308bdc reticle. What else would you guys suggest (under $500ish) and any site sponsors have any deals going? Looked at most of theit sites and don't really see any optic deals going. Thanks for the help everyone.
 
Nikon M-308 is the best of your choices. It's based off of the monarch series scopes and is worth the little higher cost than what you are wanting to spend. If you are going to be using the turrets at all it has really nice positive, audible, repeatable, accurately adjusting turrets. Glass is better than your other two options as well.

The P-308 is based off the prostaff series and is ok but it is the cheaper quality product line.

Bushnell ar optic series scopes suck. They are the cheapest priced of your three options for a reason. They are big, heavy awkward scopes and the turrets SUCK. Really really mushy. If you are going to be using them at all you will be disappointed. I owned 1 but I sold it after a couple uses. Very dissappointed.

If you are only punching paper and are ok with a fixed power scope Amazon.ca has the Bushnell Elite Tactical fixed 10x for an awesome price of $275. You'll have to go a long way to find a better scope than that for anything close to this price

I've inquired to Bushy about this and was told that the ENGAGE Series are only destined to the big box stores. Not sure how accurate that info is coming from a Bushy Rep.

Might want to check with Cabelas Canada, Bass Pro or Crappy Tire.

About 2 weeks ago, there were a few in the Bass Pro Shop here in Tsawwassen BC

Did my research and went to many stores to feel and look.

the best scope time after time was the Vortex Strike Eagle in 1-8.

But I wanted more zoom for deer hunting this year, so I bought the Vortex Viper 4-12 as it was on a $200 off sale at Cabela's and a close second choice. Next sale on the Strike Eagle I will get one.

this was my first vortex purchase. I always get Leupold or Bushnell.
 
While big heavy and a bit clunky I went with a tactical elite 5-15 bushnell mounted with a PEPR QD cantilever mount.

Not worried about scratching or bumping it as this will be a hunting rig and likely get a krylon ghetto camo job anyway.

I picked up the same Vortex Viper 4-12x40 to put on another rifle. Beautiful little scope for the sale price. Only problem is that the elevation turret is extremely loose and wobbly feeling like it's almost ready to fall off. Click are still audible and precise. Windage turret is fine.
Thinking of sending it back to Vortex for replacement. Thank goodness for the best warranty in the business. I've had to use it a few times. I think after this one I'm done with vortex.
When they get it right they have great product but QC is almost non-existent.

I have 5 of these. You can't kill them no matter how hard you try.
 
Vortex has a new light hunter series out. It's more than 2x the $500 OP budget. But it's razor glass in a light 1 inch tube with 3-15x bdc or moa drop reticle.

Primary arms has a cool 1-8x with a really neat drop/distance measurement reticle. It's $499 right now I do believe.
 
I would avoid Vortex, especially their budget friendly options. Way too many warranty claims on them. I have owned three of them (sold one) and I'll never spend another dime on their products. My Viper PST 4-16x50 could use a trip in for warranty because the zoom ring is excessively stiff. There was something weird with my Viper PST 6-24x50, it seemed to have zero wandering around. My Viper PST 1-4 has been great though and it sits on my Savage A-17 and takes care of any little critters that need to be dispatched in my yard.
They make what appears to be a great product but there is way too much chance of having to use their great warranty.

I don't know what I would suggest for $500 or less now. I've moved on to higher quality optics and can't go backwards. I would save up for a Sightron 1-7 or something used for a good deal if you can find it on the EE.
