Any 25-06 fans here?

I have owned one or another .25-06 for years. My favorite bullet is hands down the 100gr X-bullet. I drive that bastard as fast as I can. I have seen a moose drop to one of those bullets at 450yards on a frozen lake. Underestimated round. One of my favorites.

I shot this caliber from 1989- present. In 1995 I was looking for a gunsmith to build me a custom 25-06 barrel. I was fortunate enough to meet a gentleman (Bevan King) who was very supportive in teaching me how to build one myself. I wound up working with Bevan for about 5-6 years. We built a 25-06 barrel 26" long, and it shoots like a house on fire. I prefer to use 120 grain Nosler Partitions, but it also shoots the 115 grain Berger VLD's real tight!

Over the years that rifle has been responsible for the most bang/flops of any caliber I have used.

Ok he's my .2 cents .... got one in a browning bar... semi I use the barns tsx or the ttsx bullet ....100 grain
And I have no problem shooting out to 400 meters with it ... did load development for it and just amazing results
An underestimated cartridge
No problems dropping... bear....deer.. moose if close yes ( I won't take a unethical shot just me)
And great coyote round as well 75 gr v-max !!!!

I love my 25-06, have a field that's 600 yards end to end and my mark II gives me the confidence to cover this entire distance with accuracy. If you roll you own it gives you a lot more flexibility with this cartridge 120 gr spitz-sp and imr 4831 give mine the best results.

My first 25-06 was a Remington 700 Varminter. Great rifle and very accurate using the 120 grain Hornady HP. One black bear lost traction quickly from 245 yards.
Sold it in order to buy a 700 SPS SS. Getting great accuracy and have converted over to the Barnes 100 grain TSX for hunting.
So far the only blood was a crow.

A friend reports a Nosler partition going clean through a moose side to side.

Love mine. 117 gr interlocks are deadly on deer and wolf and bear. 75 gr Vmax for devastating effects on crows groundhogs and coyotes

I'll need a new barrel soon but it still shoots good enough for coyotes and wolves out to 200 yards

I've taken my largest bear 300 lbs and my longest shot on game which was 780 yards on a coyote
Only once have I ever needed a second shot and that was because I tried to shoot a coyote from behind thru the neck to save the pelt. I held between his ears and tail. Bullet struck wee bit low hitting the spine and tearing him from tail to neck 6" wide. He dropped but I gave him a second shot to end his suffering. I'm not entirely sure it was needed

Love the caliber and I'm planning on building a 250 savage for the lighter weight bullets and keep the new barrel for the heavier weights

I have one of Bevan's 25cal bbl on a M700 257Roberts he built for me. It has been a very accurate and consistent rifle for years and is my favorite deer rifle.

One of his in a 25-06 would only be better.

My go to caliber for coyotes. 85gr NBT's fast, flat, and hits them like a Mack Truck. Never tried the 25-06 on anything bigger than a yote but I don't have any doubts.

Wow thanks guys, I just thought I had a coyote/deer gun, but with the right pill I can take bear/moose? Thats quite the caliber. I am thinking of topping it off with a coyote scope..

3-9x40 Nikon Active Target (coyote special) or maybe 4x12 by the distance this thing covers. Not sure.

Took my bull moose with the 115gr partition in 2015 at 280yrds....not an issue

I just recently picked up a Browning BBR 25-06, needed a little TLC. Couple surface spots of rust. Bore and rifling is beautiful, but was dirty, took my time and cleaned it right. Wood stock and checkering is in pretty much perfect condition. Finish was dull and required two coats of linseed oil to bring back the color. Put a Vortex crossfire 2 3X9 scope on. Looks brand new now. I would like to put a sling on, but it has those old flush mount swivels, the one you slide the T end into and turn it sideways. Can't find any of course and they are not manufactured anymore. But little scared to try and remove them outta the old wood. Sighted in and ready for my first hunt. Finally got of my lazy but and took the core course.

An old buddy got me onto the 25-06 back in the eighties, shot a pile of deer and antelope using the old 100 gr Nosler solid base bullets. Just recently picked up a Browning B78 in 25-06 to go with my BBR. Hey Shadow, just checked, I've got an extra set of the sling swivels you need, PM me and I'll send you a set.

I like hearing those stories about those long shots ..... everyone thinks they need a magnum to do it .... people think it won't do but all in all it works just fine .... and waaay less recoil.........
Eh enjoy the 25-06 go practice with it and be confident with it and you won't have a problem
Just my 2 cents

I once built a 25-284 with one of Bevan's barrels. I put 46 rounds thru it at the range first trip out. Break in?....what's that?...:)

It shot very well and is out there somewhere. It's on a 1969 short 700 in a grey Boyd's laminate.
