Ontario Transfer Wait Times?

So now when you call the CFO in Barrie, an automated message starts and directs you to call the RCMP.....30 minutes so far on hold waiting for someone to pickup. This is after waiting 4 weeks for my recent transfer and still no word.

Iphoned the RCMP number . Asked about the status of my transfer and was transferred to the Ont CFO. They picked up right away and completed the transfer over the phone. I ordered another pistol on Oct 20th, let's see how long that takes.

canadian site? Did you receive it yet?

yes the Canadian site. have not received it yet. called the cfo he said they are backlogged with 1500 transfers, also said transfers are up 25% and people getting their pal is also up 20%. told me it should be done in a few days but that was a week ago...

Wow.. those are significant increases... Did they give any reason? (liberal deadline by 31 dec 2017?)

Just got off the phone with the CFO... said Ont has the longest transfers in the country for BUYING... so if you are buying in Ont be ready to wait a month... however if you are selling from Ont to a different province its one week average... Why is Ont 4X the wait? Not sure but simply the large population could be why.

Call your Ombudsman and MP.

Last transfer I did (as buyer) AB to BC was about 18 hours.

Phoned the CFO today. Very pleasant lady completed the transfer over the phone (14 days - 1 day for the holiday = 13 days). I win. If you get yours today you win since yours was initiated a day after mine. I think I cheated a little by phoning though.
i finally got mine on the 25 of October , firearm was bought on sept 30th like I said before

Got reference number October 3rd, then forgot that I needed to phone in to confirm the details of the transfer and did so on October 13th. I received the email notice on October 25th. So 9 business days from the time I phoned in. Better than I expected, but still jealous of BC and AB wait times.

9 days is less than half the average it seems... I'm at a total loss as to how it two ppl can start transfers on the same day in Ont, and one is approved in 9 days and the other is 25 days.

I got my first transfer in AB done in a day. The actual registration cert took another 10 to arrive in my mailbox though.

In Quebec, first ever transfer when I bought a pistol from a site sponsor in Ontario, transfer approved within 1 day, but it took a week for the notification to reach me and the store by snail mail.

Reg certificate took 15 days to reach my home.

If you call the CFO you can have them email you your transfer notice. Then you can go pick up your new gun right away. Unfortunatly they won't email you your registration cert.
