Got up early yesterday and headed out in a brisk NW with blowing snow after big drakes and they didnt disappoint!! Sky was full of them and couldn't stop them from coming in on my spread......was epic. It was nice to have them come in so close I could pick out the drakes and shoot them vs the hens. Finished in about an hour even though I could have finished much quicker I had to savor this fall flight..was amazing. Spent the rest of the day scouting for my whitetail buck and shooting coyotes. Can't beat hunting in Saskatchewan.

Nice hunting, still waiting for the northerns to arrive, kind of in between locals gone and northerns arriving.

Awesome bunch of northern greenheads there. Nothing beats late season mallards IMO. Saturday and Sunday were nuts here in Southern Manitoba. Shot all green as well. Snow is blowing and temps are not to be above freezing for most of the week. The end is near....

Sweet, one of those days to remember... we are not on a major flyway here, lots of locals though, and we get northern diver flights later in the season.

I plucked out all my prime birds and waxed them. Well worth the while only for late ducks. I am an accomplished cook and enjoy putting superb meals together.

I pluck all mine to unless it is a younger bird with lots of pin feathers...I like to wait for the northerns to come down late in the season before I get serious about killing a mess of them...Best eating I think when roasted with the skin on with all the fixins including a wild rice casserole.
