Why kill the dog ?
Why smash the collar ?

The dog isn't the real problem. The owner is. The dog is just being a dog.

Grab at least one dog ( if possible) and wait for the owner to come retrieve the dog via. The collar.

Then deal with the owner , AKA the real problem.

Your way sounds like your avoiding the real problem. Who can just go get , yet another dog.

I have shot stray dogs on the farm that bothered our livestock.
But I didn't shoot the neighbors dog when it bothered our livestock.
I bothered the neighbor.

No but mouths open and someone may hear something

Very true. Used to hunt in a camp near Arden, and the landowner had a Springer who hunted with us. The dog rarely went farther than a hundred yards ahead of the owner and always wore a bright orange vest. One afternoon while dogging our property the dog gets ahead and over a ridge and there is a gunshot. The owner runs towards the sound of the shot and meets the dog limping back with a gunshot wound to the gut. Owner picks the dog up and runs him back to the truck and into town to the vet. The lucky puppy ends up surviving the gunshot.

So camp owner is a longtime resident of the area and puts the word out. Sure enough a local poacher/trespasser lets it slip in the legion that he took a shot at a dog that was on his land during deer hunting. His property line is a ridge or 2 away from where the dog was shot. Poachers house and barn burned down just before Christmas. They were lucky to get out alive.

88 man

Hell no , not directed at you !
See my previous post . I hope this guy gets his nads cut off !

My post was a reply to post #37 , but I guess his post did not copy to mine.

But in reality what I'm saying is ......if a dog is on your property , it's not really the dogs fault. It's a dog.
They don't necessarily understand the directions we give them ..lol
So why punish the dog.

Grab the dog and deal with the owner. The owner is the problem.

Your out there hunting legally and your dog got killed. Trust me fellow hunter my heart is bleeding for you.
Personally I want a private meeting with the guy that shot my dog. You know to discuss things.....

I've ran plott hounds for coons , beagles for rabbits and I've owned too many German short hairs for birds. I luv them damn things !

I'm probably not going to own any more dogs after I put this next one down probably this winter. Honestly I can't do the loss anymore.

So I feel bad for what happened to you and your beagle . Bad doesn't even come close to describe it.

My point is simply this.
You were legally doing what you can do with your dog. He never should have been shot !

Like wise if a dog is causing a problem people should deal with the owner.
Caveat to that is if the dog is attacking livestock or people ....... well that's another matter.

By the way I choked to death a dog that attacked my friends wife when we were in the US a few years ago. I had no choice but to choke it. It dying was an unintended consequence. I was trying to render it unconscious , but I guess I damaged the wind pipe.
My buddy dealt with the owner later.

I hope I cleared up any misunderstanding.

Best regards

If you're not a poacher/trespasser that shoots people's pets and piss people off, you'll never need to worry, right? Small town justice, dude, small town justice. Everyone knows who the a**holes are and sooner or later, what goes around, comes around.

Small town justice shouldnt involve burning a man's house and barn down while he is in it with his family. If you think thats appropriate, you need help. Besides, what do you know about small town justice living in the 905?

Nobody said it's appropriate and maybe you should check my profile before you put your mouth in gear with your brain in neutral.

Right, check your profile....because everyone cares so much about you that they need to check your profile. Hate to break it to you but I have no time for people who repeat everything twice. Bad enough to hear it....brutally painful to read it...
