According to the CZ UB website the Shadow 2 weighs 46.9oz. With the RMR likely more. What did you do to reduce it's wight- thinner grips?

Wrong model. I'm using a shadow Custom from Czc Custom shop.
You do realize that RMR is a trijicon term for a micro red dot Sight?
Not every RDS is a RMR, but every RMR is a RDS.

With the snow last night I may just be able to get in some shooting with the iron sights. I don`t want to be adjusting the sight in the cold weather. %$/$% snow came a month early this year. It won`t likely stay but still a pain in the butt.

How about seniors who are on a fixed income with failing vision? A lot of them break their bank account to keep shooting open because it's the only option they have for an optic. Now they have a much more economical option.

I wont be shooting P.O. but hope to see you in F.S.J. this spring. First time up there this year and I loved it.
I have never been over to Ft. St. John. 15 hour drive is a long way for a club shoot.

Sorry, I thought you were a lot closer. 12 hours for me but it was a sanctioned match, so I gave it a try. Awesome match and location and organizers. Very laid back without the usual B.S.

After you already have an open gun does it break the bank shooting it? Seems to me the initial cost is the real kicker in open. They are way over price to begin with in my opinion. maybe there will be more open guns for sale soon as open shooters switch to production optics

Generally Open Shooters will stay Open. Most that I know didn't just go there just for the red dot sigh; they chose it to shoot a gun that you can really hang out on the edge.
Nothing is like shooting Open. For success in that division, you must be able to find the fine edge between speed and calamity.
It's great fun and requires a different skill set than then non-comped guns.

Yep just started open and calamity is where I'm at.... hope to reach speed eventually.... nothing quite like stuffing 10g of powder to move a 9mm pill... exciting!!!!

I can't see anyone moving from Open to Production Optics.
Why would you? Your $5000 gun is already bought and paid for.
But I can see lots of people moving from Production to Production Optics.
It's only an additional investment of $500 for an optic and a mount. So why not give it a try?

I'm going to be giving this new division a try and am looking for a red dot at the moment. What size dot would be best for this division, a 3 or 6 MOA ? What are the pros and cons of the two sizes?

When I went searching for mine I went with the Vortex with a 6 MOA. Most of the users who shoot some form of action shooting reprted they went with the 6MOA from what I could determine. Bigger dot and much easier to pick up quickly. The Vortex Venom and the Burris 111 seem to be the ones I ran into the most. One guy had 6K rounds on his Burris 111 and had the sight on several of his guns.

I think that this will be a tough division for Canada as dovetail mounts that are made for CZ pistols can no longer be shipped into Canada. There are of course other guns, but most people I talk to are looking at using their Shadows/Shadow 2’s.
