NEA15 upper: how to I remove this handguard?

My NEA15 7.62 upper arrived yesterday and because it is a m-lok version it seems to be easier to remove the handguard then mount all the m-lok stuff. I am more used to the older AR15 handguard like the Norinco or the kind with the giant lock ring that I unlock with a wrench. This particular one has 2 horizontal screws the bottom of the handguard. (hopefully I can find a better pic later or I will take a pic when I am home). I removed the 2 screws last night but found the handguard won't move or wiggle at all. Am I still missing something or I will have to simply tap it out with some force (it is still new and shiny I don't wanna scratch it)? I guess this is the newer stuff and I am a bit old school ;)

If you have some pic or vid or link to show me how to do it I would really appreciate it.

Btw, left a message on BCL site but I figure someone might reply a lot faster than them ;)

Updated kinda looks like this (I can only take pic of mine once I am home after work):

from your post it reads to me like you want to remove the handguard so you can attach Mlok parts. Is this correct? .....or are you swapping the handguard out for a new one?

For now attaching Mlok parts yes. Personally I prefer keymod rails so I wouldn't rule out replacing the entire thing in the future. I am also thinking of replacing the gas block with an adjustable version so eventually I will have to completely remove the handguard.

dude you dont need to take the hand guard off to attach Mlok accessories. Dont do this!!! Mlock stuff is super easy to install. Read teh directions on the accessory you bought. Simply un thread the screw, raising the square Mlok attachment. Then place in mlock slot, adjust and tighten. Removing your hand guard unnecessarily will only leads to damage and wear.

As mentioned above... there's absolutely no reason for you to have to remove the rail to put on MLOK accessories. That being said, to remove your handguard, just loosen both screws near the NEA logo and twist.

Cheers.

Ahh ok thx ;) This is my first m-lok AR handguard so I really don't know. My other mlok experience is with the magpul shotgun forend. Ok I will just install it as it is for now. Keymod seems easier still LOL.

Thanks again for the tip. Much appreciate it.

You don't need to remove the M-Lok shotgun forend either to install parts.

As others have mentioned, you don't need to remove your handguard to install MLOK accessories. That's one of the selling points of the system. And forget Keymod. It's now the Beta equivalent from the video tape platform wars of the 1980s. MLOK is the winning VHS... The market dominance of Magpul, the decision to free license the MLOK TDP, in combination with the release of that damning test report of the various handguard mounting solutions by Picatinny Arsenal and the writing is on the wall for Keymod.

Many firearms parts come with instructions. You are the type that needs to read them. Or you need to go to company websites and look for instructional videos. Be sure to ask an adult for permission to use the Internet.

Nah, I am sure they show that somewhere in my Call Of Duty mission I just pwn those bit*ches too badly I probably missed it. Btw, I pay for my own very internet since I have that private basement all to myself and my virtual GF online. It's none of my parents' business upstairs ;)

Just for fun, if you want to take your hand guard off, I had to get at the gas block on my NEA. Loosen the two bolts and gently rotate the handguard about 1/2 inch. You should be able to pull it straight off. If you are careful you should be fine.

Thank you sir! This is exactly the answer I was looking for. Ok back to Call of Duty now... LOL j/k

Doh!

And I found out why it didn't work for the first screw I tried. It turned out that the first one I try to put on was hitting the gas block and it won't rotate. I follow similar videos and move the handstop off 1 slot down the rail it works without needing to take out the handguard at all. Thank you!
