PAL Wait Time

Update Oct 22 2017 (Day 132).. Still waiting, tried calling the NS CFO office to inquire as to why it's being held up on Oct 18, all I got was voicemail and even though their voicemail message said they would return calls within a business day, I have yet to be contacted.

This is ridiculous. All I did was be 100% honest with my application and check yes to being diagnosed with depression in the past 5 years. now I'm stuck waiting in what seems to be limbo.

What greatly annoys me about this whole experience is that nobody will tell me anything, just that it's "still in process.."

I have the full support of my wife (She even signed a letter stating her support which I included with my application) yet I feel like that doesn't matter.

I will continue to wait...

Be patient buddy. Why not do something else to distract you from it?
I am also waiting for approval.

10/04 - [Day 40] Contacted, takes 2 weeks to get through faxes, probably won't get to my fax for 2 more weeks

Thanks for the update, gives me a sense of the updates they provide.

My application finally shows up online today after 45 days, and they have charged me my Fee for the License.

My status now shows "Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.".

Is it fair to assume that I am nearing completion of my application.

Does the completion of the initial processing, does that include references?

9/16 Application status available online (of course showing in processing)

It's interesting (and not in a good way) to see how long the process takes. My stepson and my nephew sent out their PAL applications around Sept 20. My stepsons credit card was just billed today (November 7). He was all excited thinking it would now be on its way. I (apparently correctly, from the above) told him not to get excited as essentially all they did was take his money as soon as they opened the envelope. From the posts immediately above, it appears that he has at least a couple of more weeks to wait.

All of this is super maddening because, as we all know, there is no rational reason for it to take this long. The only reason it does is because Wendy had the ear of the Liberal swine we had in government in the 90s, and she and the Liberals wanted it to as a way of discouraging people. Institutional delays for no other reason than those swine wanted institutional delays in place.

I have a question:
where the PAL licences are been issued from?
Are they been issued by Miramichi's RCMP or each province issue their PAL, From each provinces' CFO office?

It seemed to be a question of how big is it the CFO's ( personnels/staffs) office = how fast licences are issued ?
Scratching my head.

Or is that there is a quota per provinces on how many licences to be issued per month?

I can not define any logic in how the time line are made.

The ONLY thing that I find it is common : we have to have patience to wait.....,

But that is no right......I think.

Ok, lets see how the 45 days apply.

Mailed my PAL forms back in Sep (by mistake let my old PAL expire) so had to resubmit a new application vice renewal.

Been checking online for a couple weeks and it finally showed up in the system with 26 Sep 17 as the receipt day or exactly 43 days ago, also saw that payment went through today.

So now how long will it take ....place your bets

all licenses come from Miramichi, once the CFO of what ever provice approves you it gets sent to the printer which then prints and sends from the one office....the provincial cfo office normaly handle their own applications, , but the number you get to call is to a call centre who just pushes calls to whatever office has someone available, for instance, i`m in BC have always lived here, and my pal was approved via New Brunswick, and my Rpal(done a year later) was approved via Alberta CFO office`s

Miramichi received my application on Sept 6/17 . 1 little hiccup. (I forgot the expiry date for my MC) SO they mailed a form back requesting the information that I forgot. I called the information in and was processed immediately. I received my RPAL in 61 days ..not bad for my screw up on the paperwork.

Thanks Ian745!!
I see....
If apps gets to be approved by any CFO's office, then why would I ( CFO of any province) want to work hard??
That is the possible WHY all the inconsistency in processing time....
Cheers

After 498 days of waiting my application for pal/rpal has been approved by the BCCFO. the BC office apparently decided not to observe Remembrance day as they called me on November 11th at around 1230 to confirm a few things and after going over my application with them they approved my application.

i know a few offices that had the stat on friday, not monday like most, but awesome, congrats!, sucks about the wait time, but now the fun can be had, well, in about 2 weeks when it shows up

Just checked online this morning and my PAL has been issued.

So I gather it took them less than 5 days to process my PAL once it finally made it through their internal mail system.

Pretty darn close to the 45 days.

In system on or about 6 Nov.
License Issued on or about 14 Nov (I know it was not issued yesterday (holiday)

Now I wait for Canada Post and then get to go shopping.

Hey All,
I'm trying to help a friend of mine who has been waiting for over a year now for his PAL. We did our course the same time and submitted our applications the same day (Nov 16). after the 3 month mark we both started calling every 3-4 weeks in May I finally received my PAL but he is still waiting. I will mention that when we both applied we both checked the box regarding depression or mental health issues (because we both wanted to be completely transparent and honest when applying). We also both wrote letters explaining why we checked the box and provided references to our respective medical providers if they wanted more info. For myself my badgering must have worked because they finally called my wife and it was completed an hour after they talked to her (she was the only one they called).

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could possibly help my friend out as it is almost feeling like he is being discriminated against because he said yes to having depression issues in his past even though he was open about everything.

Sadly I don't think there is anything that can be done. I've read guys speaking multiple times to their MPs, visits to the CFO offices, calls galore.
Guns are like a faux pas therefore, I don't think we have any common voice to stand up for us as the "speaking out" will win, or loose you favour... nobody in the public light wants to take that chance.
As well it seems like the CFO, field offices, data entry folks have no mandate or answer-ability.

They are just trying to keep the public and applicants safe. And we as the public applicants, though very frustrated with wait times, are happy to wait.. and wait, and wait!
