Maccabee Defense SLR information and updates

For those of us who are mechanically retarded, which shop does good work for putting together a NR SLR???

This is the challenge of a "kit" gun. Any reputable shop that build ARs can do it, but skilled worker time and testing immediately adds $100s to the cost. Most trades are billed out at $70-$100/hr. If it's an owner-operator maybe less, although shorting yourself to save your customers $ gets old fast. Also depends if you are collecting the parts. Problem with that is putting many unrelated brand names into a complicated mechanical device rarely works well without a lot of experience (trial and error). Buy a $700 AR. Buy one of the Maccabee sets. Pay a pro to put pieces together and test. $700+$1000+$300ish at least. $2K+tax.... for an NR version of the cheapest AR you can find. If your build your own hot rods this is your scene.

I wish falkor defense would make their new dracos barrels in a 18.5" config. might opt for a proof research barrel though

just for information, sometimes, actually quite often, a USA marketed 18 inch barrel is actually 18.504 inches long when measured by Canadian standards.

For instance my noveske 18 inch spr barrel is actually 47cm long when measured according to canadian barrel length rules.

Just saw the dealer posted MSRP $2499 for whole rifles next yr. There goes the "inexpensive AR lookalike" dream.

good to know but falkor only offers the .223 barrel in 16" currently.
and the rules are barrel muzzle to bolt face right?

What ####### would have reported it? The video was unlisted so it would have been someone on here.
Youtube's new content control algorithms are messed up. They auto ban tons of videos for "controversial" content, usually as simply as having gun content. It's actually a major issue going on in the Youtube community.

My whole YouTube channel is nothing but guns and I've never had an issue, not saying you're wrong just my experience has been fine.

It's a really weird algorithm. I have another channel with a lot of gun videos on it that showed very similar things to what was shown in the video that got removed. Almost exactly the same in fact. I can only assume someone reported it, and to be fair, it didn't go down until I posted it to Reddit.

This is a test. Please ignore this. I'm wondering if this video is suddenly going to disappear as well.

So one could use a Noveske barrel to build an NR upper?

Ordered the receiver sets and have decided on going 6.5 Grendel. I want to keep it as light as possible as it will be a hunting rifle, not a range blaster.

Now I need to source a 6.5 Grendel barrel and bolt, as well as other parts including a lightweight hand guard.

I wonder if a standard AR15 upper receiver vise block will fit this upper?

Xero, can you give us a list of the parts used on the demo gun? BCG, buffer, etc?
VLTOR stock
giessele charging handle (super probably)
giessele mk8 15" rail
giessele maritime bolt catch
norgon ambi-bolt release
Lantac E-BCG
Colt Canada 18.6" barrel with a AEROKNOX muzzle device
thats what I can tell for sure.
probably a giessele trigger and buffer spring+buffer system since they seemed to go full giessele on this build

Brownells has a 5.56 nickel boron BCG on sale right now and you can get an additional $10 off with the coupon code LDD at checkout. $89.99 US for a nickel boron 5 star BCG not too shabby :)

I think anyone expecting a limited production, single market gun from a small manufacturer to be an inexpensive lookalike of the most mass-produced rifle in the western world should probably reduce their exposure to solvent-based adhesives.
