for anyone who doesn't know this is the same guy that did this:

which is difficult to navigate, but scroll down, and you will find it.

WTF ? There are clear federal firearms offences happening here, as well as municipal bylaw offences, as well as hunting offences. If this guy doesn't spend some time in jail, and have all his firearms confiscated, and licence revoked, then what the hell are we doing ?

I don't even know where to start with this........ an absolute disgrace.
No matter how much media coverage or public outrage, nothing will happen to these guys, cause nobody wants to rock the FN boat.

Personally I think they should be strung up and have their sacks whipped with willow branches for a couple days.......

In my youth I once made the mistake of trying to finish a deer with the classic knife to the throat, luckily no cameras were around. It wasn't an experience I wanted to repeat so I just shoot them in the head now.

If this happened on the Reserve I am not sure there was any offence committed unless the band has firearms discharge rules in place.

We self slaughtered goats for our family this past fall, shooting an animal in the head does not stop the function of all of the other systems. We shot the goats and slit with a knife, this is very similar to a captive bolt gun and slice at the slaughter houses. There is a lot of blood and a lot of mess and a significantly more up close and personal experience than shooting a deer at range. The fact that they did all of this is horrible but many hunters do not actually understand that once the shot it taken there can be a lot of these sort of reactions by the animal's systems no matter where the shot was taken, we are just generally too far away to notice what is going on.

A disgrace yes, very much so.

I hope the band takes this seriously and does something. It makes any hunter whether FN or other look bad.

The guy was exercising his right to take sustenance from the land.
It happened on the reserve.

The non-native LEAs won't stick their noses in it.
A phone call from the ivory tower in Victoria to local LEAs will make sure it dies a quick death with no consequences for the guy in the video.

If it were one of us we'd be in a holding cell and our guns confiscated and gone hours ago.

This is spot on!

Does this mean that any neighbourhood on the reserve is a good backstop for a possibly poorly aimed projectile? If the hunter gets off without scrutiny, which I believe may happen, then the hypocrisy of the situation is unbelievable

I used to work at the hunting store in Campbell River and can tell you the amount of guys coming in to buy 22's for deer would blow your mind. What always got me was the fact that they were so open about it. The one that sticks in my mind the most was the fellow that bought a 10/22 and ordered a red Dot and flashlight then proceeded to quiz me about the best deer ammo for 22lr. When I told him about the legal issues that caused he chuckled and said "heh c'mon man look at me "they" won't touch me".
Not saying in this instance the shooter (Hunter?) Was in the right or wrong I'm just saying the choices in firearms and the way deer are hunted is often quite different than anywhere else I have seen
