Best 1911 in 9mm

Hello all!
So, I have narrowed down the calibre (9mm) and the style (1911), and now need to settle on make/model. Any suggestions (top end $1300)?

Almost impossible to answer to your question.
A lot of manufacturers make nice pistols in your price range.
My suggestion : go to a range, speak to shooters, show your interest and some will probably let you shoot a magazine.
I assume you are aware of the safety rules of the sport.
 
colt competition hands down in my book in the $1300 range

The SA RO is good too, but I think they are discontinued.

Yes. I recently joined a club and have some experience. I tried a 1911 SA in 45acp a while back; liked the feel of it but find it hard ot find many 1911 in 9mm to try at the range (mostly polymers).

I'd probably go for a Colt Competition series 70 stainless (blued is a little cheaper), but there are others just as good.

Springfield is another option.

Don't know much about the Sigs but many like them. I like the looks of the traditional Sig 1911 but not the standard style with the sculpted slide.

The Colt Competition sure is a fine looking firearm... and less bling than the Sig Match.
I have heard good things about the SA Range Officer as well. Any experience with those?

The Range Officer is a great gun too. They are pretty much the same quality. The Springfields available are selling for a little more that the Colts. I do like having adjustable sights like on the Range Officers so that is another consideration. can"t go wrong with either but Colt is in your budget

I had a Sti Spartan in 9mm, I liked it very much. It was accurate and reliable.
One day I want to try a Smith 1911 Pro Series 1911 in 9mm.
I also like the Sti Trojan, and Range Master.

Good morning Arielized,
You are on a good track.
Plenty of sound advices....you can't go wrong with a Colt Competition....great pistol.
I resumed my shooting career after 35 years of other interests.
I started with a CZ-75B, then a Glock 34, a Tanfoglio Limited Custom, a CZ-combat 85, a Tanfoglio Stock II and ended up with a STI Range Master and a Colt Gold Cup Trophy. model 2017, all that in a year.
The two last ones are my prefered.
1911's are great platforms.
