This incident happened about 10 k from my camp in NB. It is not on private land and apparently I hear from the locals that it the 2nd time this year a vehicle has been lit up in the same spot. NB'ers are very defensive about what they perceive as their hunting spot, public land or not. Now I know why there are so many road hunters in NB, you don't want to wander to far from the vehicle.

Something similar happened a couple months ago to my Neighbor.
His car was torched in surrey at the parking lot of the Serpentine Fen Nature Trail .
He went fishing and heard a car horn sounding while fishing of course.
then the horn kept blarring , when he looked in the direction of the sound he could see black smoke.
By the time he got back to where his car was he could see it fully engulfed and heard sirens coming to assist with what was left of his car.
Happens more often than one thinks or expects.

I’ve seen some guys obnoxious enough to park their trucks across trails on public land to block others from entering. Add in a decade long feud between hunting parties, and a dash of alcohol, and it’s easy imagine black smoke in the near future.

People need to get over it. If you want your own land, get your own land. Reminds me of pricks on the school bus when someone sites in “their” seat.

I've never experienced the my spot thing, but , like the bus kids, they're just being bullies.
And need to be dealt with accordingly.

I tell my kids, to politely say no, I'm not moving, and if one of those pricks, puts their hand on you, punch him in the mouth as hard as you can.:)

And just so we’re clear, setting it ablaze is not “dealing with it accordingly”. :p

Did they torch his car for a fishing spot?

Maybe someone got fed up with the car alarm going on & on? Lit it up as a result.
There's few things as annoying as a car alarm. Why set it if you're not going to be able to respond to it? No one else gives a damn.

I was a student at University in NB & one year I had one of my tires slashed in what I can only describe as a similar situation where someone takes issue with your being somewhere, EVEN when you are there legally!

Pretty maddening that some folks do this stuff, dirtbags abound...

We call 'em Good ol boys, I've had them tell me I'm not allowed to hunt around here since I've only lived here for 10 years and my family is not from here. I can't help but think about battling banjos...

Park your vehicle then slip off and plant a few trail-cams?

Depending on what you drive, might be worth it to nail these motherf*ckers.

Insurance ought to cover.

few years ago I parked my truck for winter in front of my driveway beside my cabin, it does go to the lake, some #######s slashed all 6 tires, assume because they could not use my driveway to get to the lake with a fishing hut in tow, real low life people, I assume it was one of 30 cabin owners around me, always hoping bragging would ensure and I could figure who it was,

The car horn was the wiring shorting out as it burned.
Does everyone go running to their car when the alarm sounds?
I think not, nor does torching a car for an errant alarm is acceptable...as this was not the case.

Did they torch his car for a fishing spot?

I dont know, the police have yet to arrest someone and car fires are a bit of the in thing right now in parts of surrey.
