S&W M&P15 or DPMS Oracle?

That flat top on the M&P looks great.

I'm in similar position as OP insofar as what I'm looking for. First AR. The M&P II obviously pops up a lot, but my local gun store suggested the Oracle was a better buy.

I'm leaning towards the M&P if only for the brand name (I also prefer the look slightly over the Oracle), but I'm also toying with the idea of spending a little more money to get something unique - and freefloating, if possible.

For example, ~$1k gets me a FDE Diamondback DB15 with a keymod rail (http://www.bullseyelondon.com/diamo...-fde-flat-dark-earth-db15efde-restricted.html). But I don't see much feedback on here about that one in particular.

Can anyone recommend the DB15? Or any other rifles in that segment and price point? Or should I just dive into the M&P?

Hope that makes sense, any insight is appreciated.

Thought about that one for months and months, just about ready to order, and suddenly $700 AR's started popping up. If you would rather make something your own and save a little cash, buy a S&W and outfit it how you want. Example:

About $1150 all in, including scope and tools to install the free floating handguard. M-lok mind you, but keymod is the same price. Cut down my fsb and she shoots like a dream, finally got to test her today. .96 @ 100 m

Edit: the scope is a Nikon P223

What a beauty. Think I'm just an all-round sucker for the free float look.

And you can always flat top your M&P with a low profile handguard and a trim job on the stock gas block to maintain that factory gas setup.
Damn that looks good trailskinpat!! I can't wait to try it out, lol, wish these were available a year and a half ago at these prices, I have no doubt I would have bought one as my first AR.

Thanks again for the headsup on this Sasquatch. I was too late to jump on it this time round.

I’m coming on to the forums every day or two to scour new posts for sales on ARs. I wonder: is there a better (or undisputed best) way to get alerts on AR sales as they arise? Some master subscription or mailing list I can sign up for? Like a Trivago for AR15s (ha).

Maybe not, but worth an ask. Thanks again.
