This fall, due to the abundant rains, a little creek I could normally step across to get to my blind suddenly became about 5 feet wide. I didn't want to put a bridge across (ended up doing it anyways), so I needed a way to cross the creek. Waders were impractical, so I used 2 of those heavy contractor garbage bags. I would slip them over my boots to cross the creek and take them off one the other side, leaving them under a deadfall for the return trip. They lasted the full 2 weeks. They did have a few pinholes on the bottom, but very little water seeped in, allowing me to stay nice and dry.

BIL still reminds me and it's been about 40 years .
