What AR comes close to this Achievement?? HK416

This one does more than come close. It's actually effective under water, unlike the 416.

Fanboy fridays?

I've actually handled the projectiles for those, supercool, would love to see the whole package in action. Add a scuba tank and flippers and it really is shark hunting season :p

All I'm saying is that like every other rifle out there rated OTB it still ruins the rifle. I'm not disagreeing that the HK may be the best battle rifle on the market today but even your favorite wonder rifle will still live a short life if you shoot it with a barrel full of water.

Stop arguing like a liberal, making sh!t up about someone saying that is what I do with my Tavor or Colt is childish. I don't own ether of those and if I did they would never be

You love the HK? That's great, it's a fantastic rifle but it goes way beyond what any civilian needs at a gun range which is the only place you can use it. If I wanted one I would own one but I have no use for a restricted rifle that costs as much as the HK does. Enjoy your HK, I'll stick to spending big money on rifles that I can actually use for more than paper punching and gong ringing.

You don’t own a Colt Canada rifle? Why the hell not. Lol

I will forgive your liberal insult even though clearly it was you that used Progressive tactics first.

You are making excuses. I get the impression you are Anti-restricted type of guy. So be at. Then why are you in this thread. Lol.

Look my friend enjoy your XCR and Swiss Arms Rifle. I do like the Swiss Arms. But 416 is awesome.

And really, what possible reason would any civilian have for shooting underwater or filling their rifle with water and shooting it? It is absolutely pointless and just silly. The only guys I can imagine doing this are the same guys who run around in their moms basement wearing their plate carrier, knee pads, elbow pads and camo doing operator rolls over the couch and pointing at a mirror thinking they look bad ass.

To be fair that actually probably is kinda fun. :)

Whoa whoa you two. Let's not say things we can't take back. Liberal? Anti-restricted? When did we become so angry
:runaway:

I'm just kidding. Hey! You two! I hear the other guy said you're a vegetarian!!! :nest:

Lol, no Colt for this guy. I'm not anti anything, just not sure many people realize how bad it is for any rifle to shoot it full of water even if it is rated to function.
I do still own two AR's and have owned more than I can count, I enjoy building them and shooting them, I'm just not willing to spend that much money on a restricted rifle that I can't utilize for anything but play at a range.

To be fair that actually probably is kinda fun. :)

No worries, absolutely no anger here and no hard feelings at all. We're all on the same team, just a little bit of fun bustin each others balls.

Would be fun with someone else's rifle but not one I gave a shat about.

Vegetarian? Them's fightin words!!! Lol.

Just get the HK MR223A3 11.5 or Colt Canada SAS10.5. Support Restricted man.

I already own an AR in 223 I built for go fast 3-gun, and a 12 inch 9mm AR plus 4 pistols, I'm supporting restricted. As I've said before, I've owned more AR's than I can remember over the last 20 years, they come and go but there's always a couple in the collection. At one point a couple years ago I had 4 AR-15's and 2 AR-10's plus enough parts to build a couple more (minus extra lower receivers).
I live on enough land that I can shoot in my yard or sitting on the back deck so my interest in restricted firearms is dropping, I'll never get rid of them all unless the government makes them prohibited so don't worry, I've got your back.

BTW, my favorite AR so far was my PWS 12 inch piston rifle. Even though it was quadrail it was light weight and it never failed, ever. Over 5000 rounds and not one stoppage that wasn't my fault (mag not fully seated), and after 5000 rounds there was hardly any noticeable wear to be found on the cerakote finish inside or out. I could have gotten away with telling the guy I sold it to that it only had 1000 rounds through it if I was that kind of guy.

I'm curious, what happens to a barrel if you shoot it full of water? Bulging? Excessive chamber and bolt face pressure?

The water can not be pushed out of the barrel fast enough so it finds a way around the projectile. Since water does not compress something has to give so the projectile is deformed and the barrel is bulged.

This vid shows the difference between a rifle designed to shoot OTB and a standard DI AR.

It's a wonder there are any DI guns left intact; they should be spontaneously combusting all the time according to H&K's marketing from a decade ago.

Yohann160. Please give it rest with the ridiculous statements.

Just go out and get one. If you have never used one or at least held one please it it rest. Just useless conjecture and more group think. It reminds me of all the Anti Eotech debacle.

Just go out and get one. Just do it.

The one I tried was a couple pounds too heavy and shot as well as my old Colt for triple the price. I didn't shoot the thing underwater either because that would ruin the barrel.

Effective marketing is effective though.

Eotechs... Gorsh.

Stoner,
Did you like the vid I picked for the demonstration? I remembered seeing it a couple years ago and searched it out figuring you'd like to see an HK in the vid instead of just watching a DI AR explode.

While I don't feel there is any practical need for a civilian owned rifle to be able to shoot full of water and I know HK makes it sound like anything else is just a toy, if you were to do that with any brand of DI AR the results would be the same. Doesn't stop me from owning DI rifles though, they are reliable and accurate and that's all I want from them.

HK416 is no heavier than the typical C8A3. The spec is out there.

This purely logical. C8 has a 0.85' bbl behind gas block, so is the most pervasive model of HK416. The push rod cannot be a few pounds.

HK416 has a 0.65" barrel in front of gas block, C8A3 with the sleeve is way heavier. Swapping out the triad for a FF hand guard, it is pure math the difference is counted in a few oz.

Yes, HK buttock is much heavier than the colt stock - but that is really not a 'system' weight, just a choice.

The G38 with the skinny barrel is almost no different from the MK18 with the DD RIS2 in weight.

The A3s are too heavy as well. The original C8s and C8A1s are where it's at.

No there not. I used those guns and they are not where it’s at. Possibly for you but not for front line troops. Possibly supply trade that never use them it would make sense.

Guns heat up fast in real use. Heavy barrel with high quality steel is where its at for me. If I’m going to war. I want the 416. And you know what for civilian use it’s easy to clean and really fun to shoot. I own DI colts as well. Like them all. Still a great market for DI Colts. Colt Canada in particular then LMT, KAC, Colt USA FNH USA. There are a few other small companies like Noveske that has things I like but those are the big companies.

If I ever buy another piston driven AR it will be another PWS. I had such a good experience with mine that I would definitely go that route again and they're under $2500.
