How is the wood fit and finish on yours. Mine is amateur hour to the max, thankfully the rest of the gun is pretty good.

Maybe your children can finish the wood better than the children in China. I really don't know what you guys were expecting for a Chinese battle rifle. If you expected these to be finished as well as a North American made $1000 AR you should not buy Chinese firearms.

I've said it before and it bears repeating - I hope TI (or a competitor?) brings in actual military wood for those of us that want that dark, oiled military wood look. Who knows, maybe it's better fitted also?

I'd like mine to look like the genuine PLA article, not a circa 1992 commercial Polytech AK.

I would like the Myanmar green polymer or like you said the dark PLA wood.

They don't have children making these guns, men and women pissed off with their lives with hand saws, sure yeah. I'm keeping my gun regardless, it works.

Maybe we should all just stop buying anything from china, including you. I mean since shipping billions of tonnes of useless #### across the ocean, polluting and killing along the way on hundreds of thousands of container ships and all.

Get off your high horse will ya, I was just asking a simple phucking question.

Nothing stopping anyone from refinishing their wood. One of my buddies with a folder has already stripped and stained his in dark mahogany, hopefully he posts a picture of it soon.
Didn't they say they were bringing in darker wood at a later date? I'd be interested in that but for me the finish on mine is good enough for what I plan to do with it. It's not a collectors piece or some rare and expensive rifle, just something cooler than an SKS to waste some x39 and maybe slay a coyote or two if I happen to catch one in the yard trying to nab one of the cats.

The wood on mine seems to be finished well, maybe a little light in color but it's fitted well and whatever finish they used is holding up well to me dragging it around with me walking the dogs since I got it. It's been bashed off the door frame of the dog run and the shop as well as a tree or two and it hardly shows any signs of abuse.

No, you asked a simple phucking question followed by a statement that your's was amateur to the max. Perhaps they should have imported some exotic hardwood for this particular batch of rifles since they knew they were shipping to North America.

Sure, stop buying from China, if you want high quality you don't go to the cheapest place you can get something built, especially when it's a chinese designed and manufactured firearm.
We buy millions of tonnes of useless crap because it's cheap and it's why it doesn't last and we keep buying the same useless crap to replace the old broken crap we bought a year ago.

You really think people in China all hate their lives? Maybe you should take a vacation there. I was there a few years ago and didn't get the feeling from anyone I interacted with that they were miserable slaves to the state. They all had jobs and purpose and were very friendly. I didn't get the feeling they were any more miserable than we are here.

No high horse, just tired of all the complaining in every f'n thread about the T-81, what did you guys think you were buying for $1000? It's a cheap rifle barely better than an SKS, we paid more because it's new to our market and looks AKish. If people had said no to pre-order and just waited for them to get here to order one they would have been $600-$700 which by the way is what I think they'll cost in a couple years if they continue to import them.
I paid $1000 for mine and know that I paid more than it's "worth" but I don't regret the purchase, my rifle functions perfectly and I've started modifying it to make it work better for me. I hated the sights but instead of complaining I just modified them, I didn't like the grip so I bought an AK grip and modified it to work. If you don't like the wood then do something about it.

How about instead of complaining all the time, why don't some more people start posting pics and posting range reports like we used to do on CGN?
All I've seen since I gave up posting pics because they just get buried under 5 pages of complaining is pics of guys trying as hard as they can to show a slightly bent rifle.
Just get out there and shoot them, you don't get perfect from a rifle like this.

I just received my folder today, order 6 mags total got 3 and a letter. No problem. But the mags I got looks like machined out ak mags, the edges looks freshly cut and rough, there is metal shaving all over the mag, is this normal?

Edit: here are some pictures, sorry for the quality I took them with my phone

Wow, those are rough, do they have the bolt hold open follower? Hard to tell from the pics
Don't send them back or you'll prob have to wait a while to get replacements. I'd send some pics to TI and politely ask them to send you 6 mags when they become available (3 to replace those and the 3 they owe you).

By the way, they look identical to mine but mine don't have all the fresh grinding marks on them. Same ridges, same reinforced double plate at the top.

They do allow bolt hold open.

Well, I would take some nicer pics and talk to TI then just clean them up myself, as long as they function correctly the cosmetics don't matter as much. Hopefully they'll send you replacements and the ones they owe you later and let you keep those.

I just posted pics above showing the mods needed to make an AK pmag work. No bolt hold open but they're only $20 and feed perfectly. If you need help with modifying them PM me and we can have a Dremel party and make a few. I know a couple other guys in the area with T81's who would come along to modify some mags over a few beers.
