Now since its all said, I really think the RISii is sort of the heart and sole of the MK18. You can get away with using different receivers and BCG and such and no one would be the wiser, but the rail is a dead give away. I would try and save for the RISii. The gun dealer in mcadam NB sells the RISii in FDE for 375. Best price you will find for a new one

Unfortunately clone life is not cheap, my advice to you is take it slow, buy the correct parts, do not substitute or you will end up buying the correct part later anyways.

You WILL get ocd about it

Like others have said, maybe save your money and bide your time. you say your obsessed with building a clone, well unfortunately the problem with that is in the name. the whole point is to build an almost exact replica (or as best you legally can) of a military service rifle. in this case the clone being the MK18, so if you want to "clone" then there is only one route and one option. you're going to have to adhere to what is "clone correct" and with that being said, the KAC RIS/RAS or DD RISii with a 10.3'' barrel is the absolute bare minimum cost of admittance into this particular game. getting anything else doesn't make it a clone, it would be an "Inspired" build. in which case any SBR with a quad rail and a flashlight could be inspired by the mk18. and just as a warning the MK18 is a very expensive clone, 350$CAD for an FDE RISii is actually a great deal in my opinion. i know in the states you have to buy the whole upper if you just want the rail new, or find one on GB where they are going for 5-600$ USD!.

this isn't meant to discourage you. there is a lot of leeway into what you can slap on a MK18 and still call it a mk18. but if you really want that cool rifle like in the pictures to call your own. trust me, take your time, save, research and get the right correct parts you the first time. you will save way more money that way rather than getting sort of the almost looks close enough part then replacing that with the "proper" part later down the road.

I bought one from Amazon. It was labelled as "ATAirsoft PEQ-15 style LED flashlight+ Red Laser sight". It was like 50$ and is great for pictures. I honestly dont trust that the laser will retain zero with repeated shooting.

So I picked up a Colt M4 upper and lower and some other parts for a proper Mod 1 build that were formerly on a 10.5" Norc. Anyone know where to look for a Colt barrel? I know Wolverine carries DD but was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Also anyone wanna buy a 10.5" Norc LOL

For a 10.3" colt barrel your best bet would be to

1- find a magic lamp and ask the genie for one
2- find of leprechauns pot of gold at the end of a rainbow and trade said gold for someone who owns one
3- join the us military, steal one and get a dishonourable discharge

So yeah, it won't be easy. Most of the 10.3" barrels used in the army were actually chopped down caplet barrels as far as I know. Best bet is a 10.3 DD
 
Sort of what I figured...I know at one point IRG brought in full 10.3" rifles but I wasn't interested in cloning back then unfortunately haha. I thought the Norc would be good enough for me but the I just wanted that roll mark so bad lol.
